AERO A set of three cabinets originally designed by Martin Feinman for Winchendon Furniture of Massachusetts as part of his Multiplex Modern Collection circa 1947. The result of weeks of handwork, the wood exteriors were carved by hand in a pattern of algae and sea fronds which carries from one case to the next. Then a painstaking process called pastiglia or “pastework,” common during the Italian Renaissance, was used to build up a network of additional fronds, algae, and sea sprays. 12kt white gold was added to both doors and several areas burnished to accentuate the three-dimensional design. The treatment represents Aero’s commitment to providing one-of-a-kind pieces to the interior designer. It also represents a commitment to the New York artisan community, many of whom can never be replaced. There will never be another set of Feinman cabinets like this again.

AMY ZOOK ANTIQUES This pair of Venini globes is my defining piece because it represents my love of Italian design. Not only do these fixtures typify my admiration for the period in Italian lighting but they are stellar and unusual examples of their genre. This large Venini glass globe represents one of a rare pair of period fixtures from the 1960’s that were purchased on a buying trip to Italy. Each handblown globe features mottled, clear glass with a white cross-hatched pattern and is suspended from the original rod punctuated by a brass ball adornment below the canopy.

BABOU Our chosen defining piece is the 'Moon' globe chandelier designed by Angelo Brotto. This piece is a wonderful example of Italian futuristic design of the 1960's.

Brotto collaborated with the Murano glass-maker Esperia Poggibonsi during the 1960's and 1970's, becoming a prolific lighting designer during this collaboration.

His designs captured the sensibility of the time by creating playful, artistic and modern shapes. The slightly mottled opaque globe is decorated with asymmetrical cast bronze to mimic the surface of the moon. The brass canopy is supported by four brass stems with an interior gold coil. When illuminated, the globe emits a warm golden glow; it is simple, ethereal and grand all at once; attributes which define Babou’s unique offerings.

BARRY FRIEDMAN Massimo Micheluzzi uses traditional techniques to achieve a uniquely modern aesthetic. He is one of very few contemporary Muranese artists to successfully employ classic murrinaand battuto techniques for a disciplined, sober vision.

Reserved forms and color palates, mostly mono or dichromatic, backdrop the fluid movement of his surface carving. Indelibly intertwined with life on these watery islands, Micheluzzi’s battuto patterns recall the gently curving canals and waterways of Venice, skillfully imparting softness to an otherwise rigid medium. His modern designs and ancient techniques bridge old and new, tradition and innovation. Massimo Micheluzzi’s work stands out among a new generation of Muranese artists benefiting simultaneously from the island’s heritage and its future.

B I CYC L E F I N E A R T Bicycle Fine Art is pleased to present an exclusive, limited edition of relief drawings made from walnut veneer wood by Neal Perbix. The relief drawings incorporate mundane materials that the artist encounters in his daily life, which he miraculously transforms into sophisticated, monumental pieces. He uses demanding tools with an adept hand, tackling unpredictability in his process while producing entirely polished, precise creations. The works border on sculptural in their three-dimensional feeling, as their playful nature pushes beyond the two-dimensional surface, adding a dignified presence and focal point to the design conversation in any room where they are hung.

BOURGEOIS BOHEME The Vendome Collection was the first design which started the Bourgeois Boheme Atelier Lighting Line which makes it our defining piece. This chic light inspired a complete collection from chandeliers to floor lamps. The collection is handcrafted in our Los Angeles workshop with the collaboration of a maĂŽtre verrier. The backplate has a bronze finish but can be customized in different metal patinas. ‘The hand-blown glass drops can be either white, amber or frosted. They will be the focal point of any room.

CIRCA 20C The custom brick hinge credenza dates to 1973 and was manufactured by Paul Evans himself and his studio craft artisans. This one-of-a-kind piece was commissioned by its previous owners with a customized color. The hinges are referred to as “brick hinges� which was a design aesthetic developed by Paul Evans as part of his Cityscape line for Directional. We chose this to be our defining piece as Paul Evans pieces are highly desirable and collectible because he was a master craftsman and studio artisan. His work spanned from the mid-to late 20th century and many of his pieces are highly desirable and collectible.

CLINTON HOWELL ANTIQUES This magnificent and exquisitely carved giltwood pier mirror is from the Rococo period in England. Like most English rococo frames, it is symmetrical in form, but superbly endowed with lively c-scrolls, s-scrolls and foliage. The looking glass here fits well within the better quality of English rococo looking glasses with its deeply carved frame and lively design suggesting a designer such as Matthias Lock and carver such as Chippendale’s workshop. Lock worked with Thomas Chippendale, supplying engravings of looking glasses for the third volume of Chippendale’s, “Director”. Although the frame has been largely dry stripped, some areas have been re-gilded and other slight repairs have been made to fully capture this piece’s original beauty.

CO L L AG E This Axel Larsson chair which was made in 1935 comes from the designer’s project at the time, Götenborg Koncert Hall. This piece defines the innovative design during the period it was made with a new sleek leather upholstery. This piece was manufactured by Bodafors Svenska Möbelfabrik and has smooth and neutral tones that make the chair simply elegant.

COOLHOUSE We chose “The Palm Floor Light” for our defining piece because this magnificent floor lamp captures what we at coolhouse collection love about great design.

When people say the name Angelo Lelii, or Lelli, the first image that comes to mind is his iconic design for “Arredoluce of a three-armed Model 12128” Triennale Floor Lamp. At coolhouse, we look for design that is unexpected. This complete, signed Palm Light is a rarity and has been expertly restored, leaving the original patina of the brass and green on the leaves and is an unexpected masterpiece.

DEANGELIS This piece stands out to us because Vladimir Kagan’s designs are provocative and powerful yet grounded by his deep understanding of materiality and structure. His designs continue a narrative that re-invents our perception of solid and void, figure and ground, form and function. His passion and imagination have suspended each piece in time and space, yet they are bound by neither. Vladimir’s works evoke a future of tremendous ambition, their fluid lines and sinuous forms evolved from his superbly unapologetic belief in the fantastic, his commitment to progress and boundless sense of discovery.

DUAL MODERN This metallic concentric ‘Eyelash’ Mirror by maker C. Jerè is an excellent example and fine representation of ‘Brutalism’ in a handmade mixed metals mirror from 1970. It serves as a superb focal point for the interior with its torch cut, welded brass and copper details.

EQUINOCTIAL Designed by Rodrigo Simão, the Feijão pays tribute to the awarded designer’s country of origin not only in its name, which means “bean” - a staple of the Brazilian menu. Simão’s take on the traditional rocking chair responsibly showcases Brazil’s flora diversity with the use of three naturally colorful kinds of reclaimed hardwood: Pink Peroba, Canela and Imbuia. Made with the combination of Industrial and artisanal techniques, the Feijão features one seamless surface with no visible joints, emphasising the graphic pattern of stripes composed by the contrasting woods.

EVERGREEN ANTIQUES This Swedish Grace period chest of drawers produced in the 1930s for Nordiska Kompaniet (signed on verso)has all the characteristics of furniture that hold the values that appeal to Evergreen Antiques. You will find that the clean lines and classic design of this chest of drawers make it suited to a diverse range of interiors.

The choice of woods used and the unique style of the Swedish inlay work is just a little different. It has a balanced mix of classicism with architectural details that are the key components of the Swedish Grace period.

EXANTE ANTIQUES This Luigi Saccardo for Maison Jansen is a true masterpiece, and everything captures the style we value. It is so elegant that the thick "trempé" glass top appears to be floating. The piece is refined and brutalist with it’s bi-color top and stainless-steel base which looks very modern, representing a climax of Italian design in the 1970’s and French "savoir faire" craftsmanship. Its harmonious proportions make this a 20th century design icon.

FRED SILBERMAN This stunning sixteen-light Fontana Arte Dahlia Chandelier designed by Max Ingrand was made in Milan in 1954. We believe that this is truly one of the most beautiful chandeliers they ever created. The exceptional quality that this piece has is marvelous. The sixteen alternating salmon and clear shades arranged vertically in curved and cut-glass on a nickel and bronze frame makes it unique.

GALERIE PHILIA This piece stands out to us because for more than 30 years, Gildas Berthelot has forged a singular path in contemporary design. His vision and experience were born in furniture sculptures that are imaginary creatures and were developed thanks to his exceptional mastery of the craftsmanship. Berthelot is a multi-talented individual as he draws, designs and creates each piece by himself.

GOOD DESIGN This walnut and rosewood George Nakashima Conoid dining table and six “new� chairs are our defining pieces. This set was purchased from the original owner and is signed by them as well. It comes with the original bill of sale and its patina is untouched and mellow. The authenticity of these pieces is what makes them so unique.

GUY REGAL The kidney shaped coffee table by Silas Seandel defines Guy Regal NYC in how it exhibits unique and high-quality craftsmanship. H Y D E PA R K A N T I Q U E S This extremely rare games table is attributable to English Regency designer George Bullock. Bullock was a brilliantly original and exceedingly stylish furniture maker and sculptor from Liverpool. We chose this piece because we admire Bullock’s highly original designs and patriotic use of British woods, marbles and decorative motifs in both brass and marquetry. The striking contrast of exotic African ebony against common oak and the highly innovative design of this uniquely English table-with surfaces for chess, cards and backgammon-all speak to the quintessential genius of Bullock’s master cabinetmaking and design.

K A R I N A G E N T I N E T TA This work represents a departure of Ms. Gentinetta's more known black and white abstracts. A mixture between artistic compositions and quirky mathematical drawings. We chose this painting because it speaks of a purposeful contrast between the very "fluid" and "in-the-moment" state of mind that we may be drawn to in life and the rational predictable lives that some of us choose to pursue by either force or practicality. The compositions are childlike but disciplined, and a complete juxtaposition between intellectual pursuits and creativity.

KARL KEMP ANTIQUES We selected our defining piece because this modernist small chest of drawers designed by Aldo Tura is a fine example of his work utilizing luxurious materials and artisan techniques. The lacquered goatskin piece is accentuated with a rosewood frame between the drawers with signature designed brass pulls and sabots.

LANCE THOMPSON This very rare Jean Besnard lamp is our defining piece because yellow glaze is scarce and is in fact the only lamp we’ve ever seen where it is used. This lamp is in excellent condition and came with the original hardware which we re-used so that it remains complete and presents as intended. The shade remains in proportion to the vessel and retains the same overall height as directed by its creator.

L AW TO N M U L L This magnificent carpet is our defining piece because it embodies elements of the most luxurious design elements of its period during the Yongzheng Period. An overall symmetrical design made it possible to hang or drape them in multiple ways and for them to adorn furniture or floors, depending upon the season.

Though they are rare, examples with other motifs exist, suggesting that wealthy families would sometimes commission their own designs. This piece is composed of three joined panels of rich amber-colored cut and uncut silk velvet with a central medallion surrounded by four peach-colored peony blossoms and leafy scrolls.

LEE CALICCHIO Always drawn to neoclassical and Mid-Century pieces, Lee Calicchio Ltd., echoes her timeless elegance and refined style that compliment a disciplined simplicity and a classical sensitivity, such as this mid-20th century black, two-tiered cocktail table with slatted lower shelf and round tapered legs. MANTIQUES MODERN This clock and barometer box are a great example of what Mantiques Modern values which are form, function, high quality craftsmanship, and a bit over-the-top.

This was made in the early 20th century by CH Bertin and it beautifully mixes form and function all whilst going well beyond the expected boundaries of the average box, clock or object.

M I C H A E L PA S H B Y An impressive piece and probably used with a partners desk, this Regency Gilt-Bronze Mounted Ebony Inlaid Hardwood Inkstand exudes quality. The gilt bronze mounts with rams head and lions masks on flanked bodies are probably influenced by Thomas Hope’s Household Furniture and the quality indicates a maker of the stature of Benjamin Lewis Vulliamy 1780-1854, who produced clocks with similar ornamentation. From c. 1810.

MICHEL CONTESSA The sea green faceted Murano glass mirror is a piece that defines us because it is flawless and refined in nature. The handcrafted mirror was made in Venice by a team of artisans who have been practicing the art of glass making for generations.

MILORD ANTIQUES This pair of sculptural patinated bronze brass and pewter side tables by Philipp and Kelvin Laverne circa 1965 is named “The Creation of Adam.” The Creation of Adam is based on a fresco painting by Michelangelo, which forms part of the Sistine Chapel’s ceiling. The painting illustrates the Biblical creation narrative from the Book of Genesis in which God gives life to Adam, the first man.

MODERN ANTIQUARIAN This Swedish secretary featuring historic paint and brass Lion escutcheons is our defining piece because upon receiving it in the US, we discovered a special secret.

Within the drawers there is an old handwritten note in Swedish, the translation of which is a birthday card. Wear is consistent with age. This piece is dated back to the late 18th century and has had minor paint restoration.

MODERN RETRO FINDS When comes to mid-century modern design I have always been most captivated

by Italian designers. Among some of my favorites are Gio Ponti, Osvaldo Borsani, Marco Zanuso and Gigi Radice. I love how these pieces can transform a room with their simple designs and bring any space to the ultimate level of sophistication! I chose this specific piece because of the history behind it. The sofa came from a hotel in Rome and needed full restoration. I took the challenge to bring it back to its glory.

MODEST DESIGNS This T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings Custom Brass Curule Bench, believed to be one-of-a-kind, stood at the entryway of the Penthouse apartment at the original Ritz Carlton on Park Ave. South. In 1953, this bench was commissioned by the building’s owners for their personal residence which speaks to the bespoke furniture designs Robsjohn-Gibbings achieved throughout his career.

NASIRI NASIRI is considered one of the leading innovators of flatweave rugs. We take a minimalistic approach to create a maximalism effect. We produce and treat every single rug like a piece of artwork – it looks different from every angle and each time you look at it, you notice something new that you hadn’t seen before. There are so many subtle details that are both intentional and naturally produced due to the variation in every handmade piece. These rugs have a rich history and we continue to follow their tradition.

OLICORE STUDIO When we found these chairs, they were diamonds in the rough. So sculptural, yet also comfortable, we saw in them a chance to revive a set of a classic beauties.

They just needed a little design love. The choice of a rich tangerine velvet added just the right touch of luxury. The combination makes a sharp statement without taking over the room.

PORTUONDO Ico Parisi was a groundbreaking architect and designer with creations that seem to be ahead of his own time. We at Portuondo Gallery, although having an ethos of eclectically mixing periods and styles, have a strong emphasis on post war Italian design and lighting. This console table by Parisi is our defining piece because it is a great example of this. The elegant and architectural lines of this piece are a great representation of Parisi’s work. It has a timeless design that could be mixed in any type of interior.

QUOTIENT Tommi Parzinger, long considered the master of American Tailored Mid-Century design, was known for made to order bespoke pieces using only high-quality materials and candy colored lacquer finishes. The featured pair of bespoke, tall chest of drawers are our defining pieces. They are solid mahogany with iconic brass pulls all designed by Tommi Parzinger/Parzinger originals. Each chest has four ample drawers and two half drawers and are in excellent restored condition.

R E G E N E R AT I O N Our defining piece is this re:392 side table which is a bespoke item available in wood or lacquer with a caned shelf. It is versatile and elegant and can float in a room because the piece is finished on all four sides. The drawer bracket wraps around so that it is as attractive from the back as the front. We try to keep as many components in stock as possible so we can produce these in under four weeks, though they are often on the floor in the buffed soft chamois and brass combination shown below-our most popular combination.

ROBERT STILIN This elegant pair of French mid-century lounge chairs are significant because they certainly define my aesthetic. The angled arms and grid backrest were designed by Rene Gabriel in Paris, circa 1945. They are special because of the intention behind their design, built to be beautiful at every angle. Any way you look at them, the chairs are compelling and fresh. The comfort and practicality of their size means the armchairs are versatile, making them an excellent addition to any home.

S OY U N K When lit, this grand chandelier looks majestic and spectacular – a unique masterpiece in lighting design with striking combination of gold, silver and black and the magical glow of its multiple lights. This chandelier is extremely rare and one of Stilnovo’s most important early lighting fixtures. The two tiers of brass and aluminum tubes separated by the aluminum structure in a wheel spoke design was fully restored to its original beauty and rewired to U.S. standards.

WEINBERG MODERN This pair of sinuous and sculptural armless lounge chairs in polished stainless steel with new upholstery designed by William Armbruster and produced by Edgewood Furniture, c. 1954, are extremely rare to the market. Armbruster’s work was widely recognized in its day, including MoMA Good Design selections. This chair design was featured in Furniture Forum, Current Design from the ICA in Boston, Hennessey’s Modern Furnishing for the Home (1952), and George Nelson’s Chairs book, among others.

YEW TREE HOUSE This fine 17th Century Italian trestle table has a massively thick top with reentrant corners, overturned trestle ends with shoe feet, joined by a wedged stretcher. We love the almost three inch thick top that is a magnificent single chunk of walnut. Its surface is beautifully worn and is relieved by the molded edge curiously carved into the bottom edge. It's mind boggling to think of all the feasts enjoyed, all the people seated, and all the objects placed on top of this gorgeous table. It has a tactile quality that only time provides.

After many years spent in the antiques business, Emily Collins joined The Gallery at 200 Lex in 2016. While working with the President of the Art and Antique Dealers League of America Emily became passionate about supporting the dealer community and building strong relationships with dealers whose businesses models were rapidly changing. Emily has a master’s degree from Christie’s Education in London, is a published author, and is involved in multiple arts related charities.

JOHN DESLAURIERS

John DesLauriers joined The Gallery when it first opened in 2011.

A senior member of the sales team, he enjoys building long term relationships with interior designers, architects and private clients. Prior to joining The Gallery, John worked for many years in luxury furniture, carpet and fabric showrooms. “I have always been passionate about the decorative arts. My grandfather had a long career selling furniture and accessories, I feel it’s in my DNA. I began working in the antiques business at a young age helping dealers after school and on weekends.

I have an appreciation for all well designed and manufactured things from any period.”

Stephanie Massaux joined The Gallery at 200 LEX in 2015. She has vast experience in the sale of luxury items within the A&D community and the private sector. She values developing and fostering connections with those seeking unique vintage items for their design needs, and with the dealers who source them. Previously, Stephanie excelled in the field of high-end antique conservation and restoration with passion and perseverance for two decades. Her transition from conservation to luxury sales was a seamless endeavor.

Stephanie is driven by a desire to collaborate with designers to realize their visions from conception to installation.

GORDON NAUMBURG

Gordon Naumburg joined The Gallery in 2015. As a valuable member of the sales team, he enjoys working to build relationships with some of the world’s most prominent interior designers. Prior to joining The Gallery, Gordon graduated from Sotheby’s Institute of Art with a Master’s of Arts degree in Fine & Decorative Art. Earlier on, he worked for one of America’s oldest auction houses. He enjoys advising clients on the acquisition of one-of-a-kind objects.

Passionate about Post War Design, some of his favorite designers are Jean Prouvé, Gio Ponti, Paolo Buffa, George Nakashima and Claude and François-Xavier Lalanne.

ALEX ANDRADE

After nearly a decade within the A&D community, Alex Andrade joined The Gallery at 200 LEX in 2020. Alex first became passionate about design while working for a New York based high-end furniture designer. Along the way, he gained vast experience in luxury vintage items, furniture design, custom manufacturing. Having worked for many years in this multifaceted industry, he quickly became acquainted with the many aspects of the business including sales, marketing, project management and operations, establishing relationship with A-list interior designers from all across the country.

Previously, Alex excelled in the field of Media Arts with experience in graphic design, photography and video production.
