A BIG THANK YOU FROM LIXOURI SCOUT GROUP Vangelis, Scout Commissioner for the Greek island of Kefalonia was over the moon when he was presented with €286. The money was raised by 1st Liphook Scouts with the Smarties appeal to help out the newest Group on the Island. 1st Lixouri
Sea Scout Group started in January 2010 and in September 2011 was given a dilapidated HQ. Vangelis approached the group whilst discussions were ongoing about a camp to the island in 2013. The money that the group was able to raise was used to make repairs to the HQ that were desperately needed. The money was spent on their name flashes and 5 complete sets of cub activity badges. Vangelis said “It is really great to be able to give the Cubs and Scouts of Lixouri their badges. It gives
them the identity they need. The boys and girls are very happy, thank you all”. Thank you to all who contributed to this appeal. He posted his thanks on our Facebook page.
RODNEY BISHOP 2012 On Sunday 4th March nine teams from the Cub Packs of Petersfield District braved the very wet conditions to take part in the Rodney Bishop Football Competition. This years’ event was hosted by 1st Liss Scout Group who kept everybody who turned up watered and fed all morning. Of the four semi-final places, Liphook packs
took three of them. The event was won by 1st Petersfield Red Team who beat 1st Liphook Wheatsheaf in a closely contested final by 1 goal to nil. Third and forth places were taken by 1st Liphook Oakhanger and 1st Liphook Downlands respectively. Wheatsheaf Pack - Runners-up 1st Petersfield Red team now go through to represent Petersfield event at the end of the month. We District in the Hampshire County wish them every success.
