Some might call it the perfect weather, others are in it for the holidays that take place during this time of the year. The crisp mornings with the fall harvest lingering in the air, the crunch underneath your feet, Elk bugles in the mountain meadows, fall round up and the smell of cowboy cologne, trick or treating, jumping in old leaves, no matter what you enjoy about it, the sun has gone down on summer and brought in the season that everyone loves. FALL IS HERE!!
In the field is where I choose to spend most of my fall. My life’s toughest lessons and greatest triumphs come throughout the fall. Waking up before the sun has begun to warm up the sky. Sleeping restlessly throughout the night before because of the dreams of whitetails running through my head. Standing on the porch, pack on my back, ready to take on the cool morning and miles ahead of me. Buck fever has gotten the best of me more times than I can count and those dreams seemingly floated away with the leaves in
Celebrating Land, Heritage, and Opportunity
As winter blankets the Great Plains, we at #1 Properties Ranch & Recreation reflect on what makes land ownership so special — especially here in the heart of Wyoming, Nebraska, and South Dakota. In these colder months, the land may seem quiet, resting beneath a layer of frost or snow. Yet, this season reminds us of its resilience and enduring beauty. Just as nature takes time to rest and replenish, winter can be a period of reflection for landowners — an opportunity to appreciate the resources and potential held within each acre.
Winter landscapes reveal the true essence of our land’s character, from the snow-covered fields ready to spring back into productivity to the rugged ranchlands standing strong against the elements. For those looking to invest, this season allows a unique perspective on a property’s year-round suitability and potential. Is the land set up for winter ranching? Are there places for wildlife to gather,

making it ideal for recreational use? These are details winter reveals in ways that other seasons cannot.
At #1 Properties Ranch & Recreation, our team is passionate about connecting people with land that aligns with their dreams, whether for farming, ranching, recreation, or legacy investment. We are here to answer questions about property management during winter, discuss opportunities that could be ready for spring, and explore how your vision fits with the land.
As we move into 2025, our commitment remains strong: to provide unparalleled service, deep knowledge of the market, and a focus on helping our clients achieve their landownership goals. We’re honored to be a part of this journey with you. Here’s to a winter of dreaming big and planning for the year ahead!
the breeze. Only to be successful two days later, sitting on hay bales because I was bored. I continuously yearn to be yelled at for rounding up cattle wrong, as there’s always a grandpa, uncle, father or friend that has their own way of doing things. When you ride for their brand, their words are expected to be treated like any commandment or law you could think of. It changes every hour, but still is expected to be followed. The massive meals from aunties and grandmas after a days work on the trail and in the pens, always seem to put everyone back in a better mood
Throughout the years of my life, I went from dreading the start of the school year, to inviting the season in with open arms. The season of excitement, chasing bugles, blood trails, fighting tears, and hard work finally paying off.. I will always embrace the fall and will long for it again and again, year after year.
Happy hunting, happy harvesting, happy fall! # autumn vibes

Communities come together in times of crisis
On a more serious note, Wyoming was ablaze this summer and fall. As of October 2024, there have been 264 fires in the state. There have been 1,300 VIIRS fire alerts reported so far in 2024 considering high confidence alerts only. This total is high compared to the total for previous years going back to 2012. The most fires recorded in a year was 2012, with 2,000 (Vizzuality, 2024).
As ranchers, farmers, hunters, etc., it is important for everyone to stay informed on what is going on with those fires. As much as I know a lot of us hate technology and the direction that it is going, it does allow us to have some cool tools

to stay informed. One of those is called Watch Duty. Watch Duty is an interactive app that gives you real time notifications, alerts, and containment updates. You can download this app on the Google Play Store or App store for Android and Iphone users.
On Facebook, I saw multiple posts during these fires, of ranchers looking for help pushing cows out of harm’s way, hauling cows off the mountain with extra trailers and other ranchers making sure the cattle had some place to go. I even saw a post where some ranchers in Texas hauled hay up here for the ranchers that were impacted by these fires. How amazing is it that as cowboys, ranchers, farmers, the amount of family we have is endless, especially in times of need. Everyone should be proud to be a part of that community!!
