1decision Scores Shortlisting Hattrick! Will you vote for us?

We are thrilled to announce that since we last spoke, 1decision has been shortlisted for not one, not two, but THREE awards.

At the end of July, we were shortlisted for the upcoming Teach Early Years Awards and Teach Primary Awards 2024. We’re nominated in both the Happy and Healthy for Teach Early Years and the Wellbeing category for Teach Primary Awards.

Setting us up for the hattrick, last

week we received the fabulous news that we’re shortlisted for Education Today School & Suppliers Awards’ Wellbeing Resource of the Year.

This is where you can help. We need your vote by 30th September 2024 to move us through the next stages.

“These nominations helped to lift team spirit while we worked through the holidays and are certainly a testament to everyone’s unwavering commitment,” comments Hayley, 1decision CEO.

The winners from Teach Early Years and Teach Primary will be announced in November, while the Education Today Award ceremony is due to take place on 6th December 2024.

Labour Scraps Single Headline Ofsted Grades

In a bid to boost school standards and increase transparency for parents, the government officially announced the scrapping of single headline grades for schools with immediate effect on 2nd September 2024.

Four grades are now available across existing sub-categories:

1. quality of education, 2. behaviour and attitudes, 3. personal development; and 4. leadership & management.

Spotlight on Sexual Health Week and RSHE Guidance Update

As today marks the start of Sexual Health Week (9th - 15th September), it's important to highlight the delivery of responsible, age-appropriate education on puberty, relationships and well-being.

Our team understand the sensitivity of these subjects and the ongoing discussions about when and how to introduce them in schools.

While we await the new Labour government’s actions regarding the RSHE draft guidance consultation, we’re committed to ensuring our resources stay aligned with the latest recommendations.

The Conservative-led consultation

closed on 11th July 2024, six days after Labour took over.

Schoolsweek collected signatories from organisations looking for a ‘fresh start’, including the ASCL and NAHT leaders’ unions, the PSHE Association, Sex Education Forum, Barnardo’s, Refuge and Everyone’s Invited.

“We are calling on the next government to discard the draft guidance and begin this process in due course, focusing on the needs of children and young people and supporting teachers to deliver a highquality, inclusive curriculum.”

Awareness Days

Resources for World First Aid Day:

At 1decision, we believe in preparing children for all of life’s adventures, big and small. We’ve seen first-hand that engaging PSHE education can teach our young learners the tools and lessons for a happier, healthier and more harmonious life.

First aid is no exception. Interestingly, results from our pupil Personal Development Quiz, show that first aid is an area where confidence and knowledge are particularly low. That’s why we’re focusing on the top ways to teach first aid in primary schools.

Teaching first aid to children is not just showing them how to bandage cuts and scrapes; it’s about creating the knowledge and awareness of responsibility – or rather - ‘response and ability’, which helps to build children’s confidence and selfesteem.

Click here to find out more about why teaching first aid is so crucial and look at the top PSHE resources for this subject area.
