SAFETY

PRECAUTIONARYSTATEMENTS

Acarefuloperatoristhebestoperator.Mostaccidentscanbeavoidedbyobservingcertainprecautions.Tohelp preventaccidents,readthefollowingprecautionsbeforeoperatingthisequipment.Equipmentshouldbe operatedonlybythosewhoareresponsibleandinstructedtodoso.

Carefullyreviewtheproceduresgiveninthismanualwithalloperators.Itisimportantthatalloperatorsbefamiliar withandfollowsafetyprecautions.

1.Donotoperatethediscaugerheaderwithout allthecutterbarshieldsdown,coverskirts installedandisgoodcondition,andcover skirtssnappedtogether.Immediatelyreplace anyskirtthatistornorhasaholeinit.

2.Headerlocksarebuiltintotheheaderliftsystemtolocktheheaderintheraisedposition. Locktheheaderonbothsidesbeforeworkingunderaraisedheader.

3.Usetheamberflashingsafetylightsandroad lightswhendrivingtheself-propelledwindrowerandheaderonthehighway.Besureto usetheroadlights,nottheworklights,becausetherearworklightscouldbemistaken foranoncomingvehicle.

4.Instructinexperiencedoperatorstoreadthe operatorísmanual,safetysigns,andbecome familiarwiththehandlingoftheunitwhich thediscaugerheaderisattached.Operate theunitinuncongestedareaswherethereis nolikelihoodofpersonalinjuryorproperty damage.

5.Nevermakeanyadjustmentsorattemptto workontheunitwiththeenginerunning.Disengagetheheaderdrive,lowertheheaderto theground,orlockitinthetransportposition,shutofftheengine,andengagethe parkingbrakebeforeattemptinganyadjustmentsortryingtoworkontheheader.

6.Tiltthecutterbarbackinfieldswherestones andforeignobjectsarepresent,toraisethe cuttingknives,minimizedebrisdeflected fromtheknivesandreduceknifedamage.

7.STANDCLEAR!Rotatingelementsmay causeseriousbodilyinjury.

8.Donotattempttoremovematerialfromthe discaugerheaderwhileitisinoperation. Shutthewindroweroffandallowtherotating discstostopbeforeleavingthewindrower cab.

9.Alwaysoperatethediscaugerheaderwith thecoversandshieldsinplace.Donotlean againstorstandonthecoversorshields.

10.Donotattempttoadjusttheliftlinkagewith aheaderattached.Headerwilldropsuddenly ifclevispinisdrivenout,causingheader damageand/orpersonalinjury.

11.Observethefollowingprecautionsbeforeadjustingorlubricatingtheheader.

• Disengagetheheaderdrive.

• Lowertheheadertotheground,orraise theheaderandengagetheheaderlocks.

• Stoptheengineandengagetheparking brakebeforeleavingthecab.

• Reinstallandcloseallshieldingbefore operatingtheunit.

12.Donotattempttoclean,lubricate,oradjust themachinewhileitisrunning.

13.Replacedamagedknives,knifehardwareor discsimmediatelytopreventanaccident.

14.Thebottomleadingedgeofworndiscscan becomeverysharp.Wearglovestoprevent injury.

INTRODUCTION

The2355discaugerheaderisadiscmower-conditionerdesignedtobeusedwiththeHW340,HW345 andHW365self-propelledwindrowers.The2358 discaugerheaderisdesignedtobeusedonlywith theHW365.Thetwooperatetogetherasanintegral unit.Thevalvesandcylindersforliftingandtiltingthe headeraremountedonthewindrower,asareallthe hydrauliccontrols.Theflotationsprings,usedonthe HW340,arealsomountedonthewindrower.

The2355headercontains12discmowingmodules, whilethe2358headercontains14discmowingmodules.Anaugerfeedsthecroptotwomoldedrubber inter-meshingchevronconditionerrolls.Ahydraulic pumponthewindrowersuppliesallpowerforthe header.

Thewindrowercontrolsthespeedoftheheaderineitherautomaticormanualmode.Intheautomatic mode,thespeedisheldconstantregardlessofthe speedofthewindrower.Inthemanualmode,the speedvarieswiththewindrowerenginespeed.The modeissetfromthewindrowercab.

NOTE:Onthisequipment,leftandrightaredeterminedbystandingbehindtheunit,lookinginthedirectionoftravel.

PRODUCTIDENTIFICATIONNUMBER(PIN)

ThePINplate,1,forthediscmower-conditionerislocatedatthebackontheleftsideoftheframe.

JACKASSEMBLY

Therearetwojackstandsbuiltintotheheader,1,one oneachsideoftheunit.

SHIELDING

NOTE: Beforeraisingeitherofthefrontshields,unhookthecutterbarshieldskirtspringsnaps,1,atthe skirtoverlaps.Besurethattheskirtsarereattached beforeusingtheheaderagain.

Whenraised,thefrontshieldsareheldinplacebya lever,1.Theleverautomaticallyspringsintothelock astheshieldisraised.Tolowertheshield,release theleverbypushingittotheside. WARNING

Closeshieldspriortooperatingthemachineto preventdamagetotheshield.Runningtheheaderwithadamagedshieldmayresultinbodilyinjuryfromflyingobjects.

Therightsideshieldcanbeliftedbyreleasingtwo rubberstraps,1,onthefrontandrearoftheshield, andpivotingtheshieldupward.Lifttheshieldpart wayandremovethelatchrod,2,fromtheslotinthe shield.Raisetheshieldfullyandhooktherodintothe slotinthetopoftheshieldtosupporttheshield.

HEADER(HW340/2355)

Installation

1.Lowertheliftarmsasmuchaspossible.Applya liberalcoatingofmulti-purposegreasetothelift cups,1.

2.Drivethetractoruptotheheadersothelifting cupsontheliftarmsaredirectlybelowthelift bushings,2.Raisetheliftarmsuntiltheyarefirmlyinplace.Raisethejackstandsintothestorage position.

3.Removethepinholdingtheheadertiltcylinderin thestoragepositionandconnectittotheheader usingaclevispin.Onthe2355headerthecylindermaybeconnectedtothefronthole,1,onthe header.Thissettingwillprovideacuttingrange appropriateformostcropconditions.Whenoperatinginseverelylodgedcrop,ordifficultcutting conditions,connectthecylindertotherearhole, 2,ontheheadertoprovidealowercuttingheight.

4.Retractthetiltcylinderorraisetheheaderto causetheslidinglinktomovetotheoperating position.Installtheretainingpin,3.Connectthe wireharnessesfortheheaderspeedsensorand theflashers.

5.Startthetractorandraisetheheader.Engagethe headerliftlocks, 1,oneachsidebypushingthem intotheholesinthewindrowerframethroughthe lowerbellcranks.Installtheretainingpins,2.

DANGER

Alwaysinstalltheheaderlockpinsbeforeworkingundertheraisedheader.

6.Installtheheaderliftarmpins,1.

7.Removetheretainingpin,1,andremovethe lockpin,2,fromthewindrowerframe.Installthe lockpinintothebellcrankassemblytolockthe bellcrankstogether,andinstalltheretainingpin. Thiswillengagetheflotationsystem.Lockboth bellcrankassembliesinthesameway.

IMPORTANT: Failuretodisengagebothheader lockpinscoulddamagetheheaderframe,liftarms,or themainframe.

8.Cleanthehydrauliccouplersandconnectthe headerdrivemotorhydraulichosestothequick couplersonthewindrowerframe.

NOTE: Thetractorenginewillneedtobeshutoffin ordertoconnectthehydraulichoses.

9.Adjusttheheaderflotationbeforeusingthe headerinthefield.

Removal

1.Disconnecttheheaderdrivemotorhosesfrom thewindroweratthequickcouplers.

2.Connectthemaleconnectorfromtheleftheader motortothefemaleconnectorfromtheright headermotorandconnectthefemaleconnector fromtheleftmotortothemaleconnectorfromthe rightmotor.Thiswillensurethatthecouplersremaincleanandwillprovideafluidpathtoprevent motorsealfailure.

DANGER

Headerlocksarebuiltintotheheaderliftsystem tolocktheheaderintheraisedposition.Lockthe headeronbothsidesbeforeworkingonthe raisedheader.

3.Startthewindrowerandraisetheheaderallthe way.

4.Removetheretainingpin,1,andremovethe lockpin,2,fromtheheaderliftbellcranks.

5.Installthelockpin,1,inthewindrowerframeuntil theretainingpin,2,canbereinstalledintothe outerholeinthelockpin.Locktheothersidein thesamemanner.

6.Removetheheaderliftarmpins,1.

7.Lowerthejackstands,2.

8.Disengagethelockpinsbyremovingtheretainingpins,2,andslidingthelockpinsoutward.Securethelockpinswiththeretainingpinsintheinnerholessothattheyaredisengagedfromthe bellcranks.

IMPORTANT: Failuretodisengagebothlockpins coulddamagetheheaderframe,liftarmsorthemain frame.

9.Lowertheheadersotheskidshoesandjack standsareontheground.Adjustthejackstands sotheskidshoescontactthegroundwhilethe jackstandsarestillseveralinchesofftheground. Thiswillcausetheheadertorockbackwardas itislowered,takingforceoffoftheheadertiltcylinder.

10.Disconnectthewireharnesses,1,fortheflashersandtheheaderspeedsensor.

11.Removetheheadertiltcylinderretainingpin,1, onthewindrowertoallowfreemotionofthecylinder.Extendorretractthecylinderasrequiredto removeforceonthepin,2,connectingthecylindertotheheader.

12.Removethepinandsecuretheheadertilt cylinderintheraisedstoragepositionby installingthepin,1,throughtheuppermounthole andcylinder.

13.Lowertheliftarmsasmuchaspossible. 14.Backthetractorawayfromtheheader.Besure theliftingcups,1,directlybelowtheliftbushings, 2,havedroppedaway.

ELECTRICALCONNECTIONS(HW340)

Therearetwoelectricalconnectors,1,ontheheader. Thespeedsensorconnectorontheheaderhastwo wiresattachedandjoinstotheconnectoronthewindrowerwithtwowires.Theotherconnectorhasthree wiresandisforthelightsontheheader.

HYDRAULICCONNECTIONS(HW340)

Fivehydraulichosesconnecttheheadertothewindrower.Therearetwosupplyhoses,twooilreturn hosesandonemotorcasedrainhose.Thesehoses areconnectedtothewindroweratthefrontframe.

LIGHTS

Therearetwowarninglightsontheheader,1;oneon eachoutboardside.Theseactashazardflashers andturnsignallights.Theyareoperatedfromthecab ofthewindrower.

STORINGTHEHEADER

Whenpreparingtheheaderforstorage:

1.Cleantheheaderthoroughly.Removeanybuildupofdebrisandanywrappedmaterialfromthe cutterbarandtheconditionerrolls.

2.Lubricatetheheader.

3.Draintheoilfromallgearboxesandrefillwith cleanoilofthecorrectspecificationtothecorrect level.Runtheheaderforafewminutes.

4.Inspectforwornorbrokenparts.Replacewith genuinefactoryparts.

5.Relieverollpressure.

6.Removetensionfromtherolldrivebelt.

7.Cleanrustedorabradedareasandtouchupwith factorypaint.Spraycansareavailablefromyour authorizeddealer.

8.Storetheheaderwhereitisnotexposedto weather.

HEADER

(HW345/2355,HW365/2355,HW365/2358)

Installation

1.Lowertheliftarmsasmuchaspossible.Applya liberalcoatingofmulti-purposegreasetothelift cups,1.

2.Drivethetractoruptotheheadersothelifting cupsontheliftarmsaredirectlybelowthelift bushings,2.Raisetheliftarmsuntiltheyarefirmlyinplace.Raisethejackstandsintothestorage position.

3.Removethepinholdingtheheadertiltcylinderin thestoragepositionandconnectittotheheader usingaclevispin.Onthe2358headerthecylinderonlyhasoneholetoconnecttoontheheader.Whentheheadertiltchannelisinstalledinthe rearwardholes,1,thisprovidesacuttingrange of1-1/2″ to3″.Wheninstalledintheforward holes,2,thecuttingrangeis1″ to2-″1/4.Theforwardholesonthetiltchannelshouldbeusedfor mostcrops.

IMPORTANT:Donotusethishole,3,tostoreapin whiletheheaderisattached.Damagetothetiltcylinderandbaseunitwillresult.

4.Retractthetiltcylinderorraisetheheaderto causetheslidinglinktomovetotheoperating position.Installtheretainingpin,4.Connectthe wireharnessfortheheaderspeedsensorand flashers.

5.Startthetractor,raisethearmsuptothemaximumraisedpositionandengagetheheaderlock bypullingrearwardonthehandle.Theheader lock,1,islocatedontheleftfrontcornerofthe windrower.Thehandleisshownhereinthe lockedposition.

DANGER

Alwaysengageheaderlockbeforeworkingundertheraisedheader.

6.Installtheheaderliftarmpins,1.

7.Disengagetheheaderliftlockasshown.

8.Cleanthehydrauliccouplersandconnectthe headerdrivemotorhydraulichosestothequick couplersonthewindrowerframe.

NOTE:Thetractorenginewillneedtobeshutoffin ordertoconnectthehydraulichoses.

9.Adjusttheheaderflotationbeforeusingthe headerinthefield.Refertotractoroperatorís manualforsettingtheheaderfloatation.

1.Disconnecttheheaderdrivemotorhosesfrom thewindroweratthequickcouplers.

2.Connectthemaleconnectorfromtheleftheader motortothefemaleconnectorfromtheright headermotorandconnectthefemaleconnector fromtheleftmotortothemaleconnectorfromthe rightmotor.Thiswillensurethatthecouplersremaincleanandwillprovideafluidpathtoprevent motorsealfailure.

DANGER

Theheaderlockisbuiltintotheheaderliftsystemtolocktheheaderintheraisedposition. Locktheheaderbeforeworkingontheraised header.

3.Startthewindrowerandraisetheheaderallthe way.

4.Engagetheheaderlock,1,locatedontheleft frontcornerofthewindrower.Thehandleis shownhereinthelockedposition.

5.Removetheheaderliftarmpins,1.

6.Lowerthejackstands,2.

7.Disengagetheheaderliftlockasshown.

8.Lowertheheadersotheskidshoesandjack standsareontheground.Adjustthejackstands sotheskidshoescontactthegroundwhilethe jackstandsarestillseveralinchesofftheground. Thiswillcausetheheadertorockbackwardas itislowered,takingforceoffoftheheadertiltcylinder.

9.Disconnectthewireharnessfortheflashersand theheaderspeedsensor,1.

10.Removetheheadertiltcylinderretainingpin,1, onthewindrowertoallowfreemotionofthecylinder.Extendorretracttheheadertiltcylinderas requiredtorelievethepressureonpin,2,connectingthecylindertotheheader.

11.Securethetiltcylinderintheraisedpositionbyinsertingpin,2,throughthecylinderandmountat 3.

IMPORTANT:DONOTUSEHOLE,3,TOSTOREA PINWHILETHEHEADERISATTACHED.DAMAGE TOTHETILTCYLINDERANDBASEUNITWILL RESULT.

12.Lowertheliftarmsasmuchaspossible.

13.Backthetractorawayfromtheheader.Besure theliftingcups,1,directlybelowtheliftbushings, 2,havedroppedaway.
