SAFETY

PRECAUTIONARYSTATEMENTS

Acarefuloperatoristhebestoperator.Mostaccidentscanbeavoidedbyobservingcertainprecautions.Tohelp preventaccidents,readthefollowingprecautionsbeforeoperatingthisequipment.Equipmentshouldbe operatedonlybythosewhoareresponsibleandinstructedtodoso.

Carefullyreviewtheproceduresgiveninthismanualwithalloperators.Itisimportantthatalloperatorsbefamiliar withandfollowsafetyprecautions.

1.Neveroperatethemachinewithanyshield raised.Alwaysoperatethediscmower-conditionerwiththecoversandshieldsinplace andskirtsclippedtogether.

2.Atractorwithanenclosedcabisrecommendedwhenoperatingarotarydisccutting machine.

3.Fluidunderpressurecanhavesufficient forcetopenetratetheskin,causingserious personalinjury.Alwaysprotecttheskinand eyesfromescapingfluidunderpressure. Beforedisconnectinglinesorfittings,be suretoreleaseallpressurebyoperatingthe tractorcontrolvalves.Beforeapplying pressuretothesystem,besureallconnectionsaretightandthathosesandconnectionsarenotdamaged.Ifinjuredbyescaping fluid,obtainmedicalassistanceatonce. Seriousinfectionorreactioncandevelopif medicaltreatmentisnotadministered immediately.

4.Ifhydrauliccouplersmustbechanged,be suretobleedoffanyresidualpressure slowly.

5.Beforeswingingthetongue,besurethe machinewillclearanyobstructions.Besure bystandersareclearofthemachinewhen swingingthetongue.Airinthesystemor highhydraulicflowratecancauseerratic operation.

6.Whenyoudisconnectandlaterreattachthe machinetoastandardelectricalsocketon propellingvehicle,thebrakelightcircuit mustbereconnectedtofunction.

7.Failuretoengagetheheaderliftlocksand tongueswingcylinderlockwhentransportingmachinecouldcausethemachinetodrop ontothepavementortoswingtotheright intoroadsideobstaclesorditchesifthe tractorhydraulicsareaccidentallyengaged duringtransport.

8.Neveradjustormakearepairwiththedisc mower-conditionerrunning.Disengagethe PTOandshutoffthetractorenginebefore attemptingtomakeadjustmentsorservice themachine.Waitforallrotatingpartstostop beforeopeningshielding,covers,orstandingclosetothemachine.

9.Loosestonesandforeignobjectscanbe deflectedtowardtheoperatoronmachines withrotarydiscs.

10.Immediatelyreplaceanyskirtthatistornor hasaholeinit.

11.Tiltthecutterbarbackinfieldswherestones andforeignobjectsarepresent,toraisethe cuttingknivesandminimizedebrisdeflected fromtheknivesandreduceknifedamage.If stonesorotherforeignobjectsenterthe cutterbar,theycanbedeflectedtowardthe operatororbystanders,resultinginphysical injury.

12.Standclear!Rotatingelementsmaycause seriousbodilyinjury.

13.Donotattempttoremovematerialfromthe discmower-conditionerwhileitisinoperation.Shutthetractoroffandallowthe rotatingdiscstostopbeforeleavingthe tractor.

14.Alwaysoperatethediscmower-conditioner withthecoversandshieldsinplace.Donot leanagainstorstandonthecoversor shields.

15.Besurethattheheaderliftlocksareengaged beforeworkingonaraisedheader.

16.Donotattempttounplugconditionerrolls withoutfirstrelievingrollpressure.Roll pressurecouldcausetopconditionerrollto movedownwardsuddenlyandcouldcause personalinjury.

17.Theheadershouldberestingontheground orsuspendedinthetransportpositionbythe headerliftlocksduringlubricationor maintenance.

18.Replacedamagedknives,knifehardwareor discsimmediatelytopreventanaccident.

19.Thebottomleadingedgeofworndiscscan becomeverysharp;wearglovestoprevent injury.

20.Replacecrackedorseverelydeformed knivesimmediatelytopreventanaccident.

ECOLOGYANDTHEENVIRONMENT

Soil,air,andwaterarevitalfactorsofagricultureand lifeingeneral.Whenlegislationdoesnotyetrulethe treatmentofsomeofthesubstanceswhichare requiredbyadvancedtechnology,commonsense shouldgoverntheuseanddisposalofproductsofa chemicalandpetrochemicalnature.

Thefollowingarerecommendationswhichmaybeof assistance:

• Becomeacquaintedwithandensurethatyou understandtherelativelegislationapplicableto yourcountry.

• Wherenolegislationexists,obtaininformation fromsuppliersofoils,filters,batteries,fuels, antifreeze,cleaningagents,etc.,withregardto theireffectonmanandnatureandhowtosafely store,useanddisposeofthesesubstances. Agriculturalconsultantswill,inmanycases,be abletohelpyouaswell.

HELPFULHINTS

1.Avoidfillingtanksusingcansorinappropriate pressurizedfueldeliverysystemswhichmay causeconsiderablespillage.

2.Ingeneral,avoidskincontactwithallfuels,oils, acids,solvents,etc.Mostofthemcontain substanceswhichmaybeharmfultoyourhealth.

3.Modernoilscontainadditives.Donotburn contaminatedfuelsandorwasteoilsinordinary heatingsystems.

4.Avoidspillagewhendrainingoffusedengine coolantmixtures,engine,gearboxandhydraulic oils,brakefluids,etc.Donotmixdrainedbrake fluidsorfuelswithlubricants.Storethemsafely untiltheycanbedisposedofinaproperwayto complywithlocallegislationandavailable resources.

5.Moderncoolantmixtures,i.e.antifreezeand otheradditives,shouldbereplacedeverytwo years.Theyshouldnotbeallowedtogetintothe soilbutshouldbecollectedanddisposedof safely.

6.Donotopentheair-conditioningsystemyourself. Itcontainsgaseswhichshouldnotbereleased intotheatmosphere.Yourdealerorair conditioningspecialisthasaspecialextractorfor thispurposeandwillhavetorechargethesystem properly.

7.Repairandleaksordefectsintheenginecooling orhydraulicsystemimmediately.

8.Donotincreasethepressureinapressurized circuitasthismayleadtoacomponentfailure.

9.Protecthosesduringweldingaspenetrating weldsplattermayburnaholeorweakenthem, allowingthelossofoils,coolant,etc.

On1000RPMmachines,thedistancefromtheend ofthetractorPTOshafttothecenterofthedrawbar hitchpinmustbe406mm(16″).

NOTE: UsingatractorwithnonstandardPTO-tohitchdimensioncandamagethefrontPTOand,or thetractorPTOdriveline.

NOTE: Ideallythetopofthetractordrawbarshould be483mm(19 ″)abovetheground.Aloworhigh drawbarwillaffectthedrivelineangle,header flotationandcutterbarangle.

IMPORTANT: Donotoffsetthedrawbarfromcenter orPTOdamagewilloccur.Locatethedrawbar directlybelowthePTOshaft.Clampthedrawbarso itcannotbemovedfromsidetoside.

ATTACHINGTHEMOWER-CONDITIONER TOTHETRACTOR

Attachthemower-conditionertothetractorwitha19 mm(3/4″)minimumdiameterhitchpinthatcanbe securelyfastenedasshown,1.Thepinshouldalso besmallerthanthehitchholestopreventbinding whenoperatingoverroughterrain.

AttachthePTObypullingbackontheslidecollar,2, andslidethePTOforwardonthetractorshaftuntil thepinsengageinthetractorPTOshaftgroove.The collarwillslideforwardautomaticallylockingthePTO shaftontothetractorshaft.

NOTE: Theyokewherethecollarslidesmustbefree ofpaintandrustandmustbekeptlubricatedwithoil forthecollartoslidefreely.

NOTE: ThetractorendoftheprimaryPTOshafthas aCVjointwhichisheavy.Becarefulwhenhandling it,asdroppingitcouldcausepersonalinjuryto yourselfanddamagetheCVjoint.

ChecktomakesurethePTOislockedonthetractor shaftbytryingtoslideitontheshaft.Toremove,pull backonthecollartounlockthepinsandremovethe PTO.

JACKASSEMBLY

Afterattachingthemower-conditionertothetractor, retractthejackbyturningthehandcrank counterclockwise.Pullthepinandremovethejack. Storethejack,1,ontopofthetongue.Securethe jackwiththepin.

NOTE: Topreventthejackfromunwindingduring use,loopthechainoverthehandlebeforeinserting thepin.
