SAFETY

PRECAUTIONARYSTATEMENTS

Acarefuloperatoristhebestoperator.Mostaccidentscanbeavoidedbyobservingcertainprecautions.Tohelp preventaccidents,readthefollowingprecautionsbeforeoperatingthisequipment.Equipmentshouldbe operatedonlybythosewhoareresponsibleandinstructedtodoso.

Carefullyreviewtheproceduresgiveninthismanualwithalloperators.Itisimportantthatalloperatorsbefamiliar withandfollowsafetyprecautions.

1.Donotoperatethediscaugerheaderwithout allthecutterbarshieldsdown,coverskirts installedandisgoodcondition,andcover skirtssnappedtogether.Immediatelyreplace anyskirtthatistornorhasaholeinit.

2.Headerlocksarebuiltintotheheaderliftsystemtolocktheheaderintheraisedposition. Locktheheaderonbothsidesbeforeworkingunderaraisedheader.

3.Usetheamberflashingsafetylightsandroad lightswhendrivingtheself-propelledwindrowerandheaderonthehighway.Besureto usetheroadlights,nottheworklights,becausetherearworklightscouldbemistaken foranoncomingvehicle.

4.Instructinexperiencedoperatorstoreadthe operatorísmanual,safetysigns,andbecome familiarwiththehandlingoftheunitwhich thediscaugerheaderisattached.Operate theunitinuncongestedareaswherethereis nolikelihoodofpersonalinjuryorproperty damage.

5.Nevermakeanyadjustmentsorattemptto workontheunitwiththeenginerunning.Disengagetheheaderdrive,lowertheheaderto theground,orlockitinthetransportposition,shutofftheengine,andengagethe parkingbrakebeforeattemptinganyadjustmentsortryingtoworkontheheader.

6.Tiltthecutterbarbackinfieldswherestones andforeignobjectsarepresent,toraisethe cuttingknives,minimizedebrisdeflected fromtheknivesandreduceknifedamage.

7.STANDCLEAR!Rotatingelementsmay causeseriousbodilyinjury.

8.Donotattempttoremovematerialfromthe discaugerheaderwhileitisinoperation.Shut thewindroweroffandallowtherotatingdiscs tostopbeforeleavingthewindrowercab.

9.Alwaysoperatethediscaugerheaderwith thecoversandshieldsinplace.Donotlean againstorstandonthecoversorshields.

10.Donotattempttoadjusttheliftlinkagewith aheaderattached.Headerwilldropsuddenly ifclevispinisdrivenout,causingheader damageand/orpersonalinjury.

11.Observethefollowingprecautionsbeforeadjustingorlubricatingtheheader.

• Disengagetheheaderdrive.

• Lowertheheadertotheground,orraise theheaderandengagetheheaderlocks.

• Stoptheengineandengagetheparking brakebeforeleavingthecab.

• Reinstallandcloseallshieldingbefore operatingtheunit.

12.Donotattempttoclean,lubricate,oradjust themachinewhileitisrunning.

13.Replacedamagedknives,knifehardwareor discsimmediatelytopreventanaccident.

14.Thebottomleadingedgeofworndiscscan becomeverysharp.Wearglovestoprevent injury.

INTRODUCTION

The750HDdiscaugerheaderisadiscmower-conditionerdesignedtobeusedwiththeHW345,HW365, H8060,andtheH8080self-propelledwindrowers.The 770HDdiscaugerheaderisdesignedtobeusedonly withtheHW365andH8080.Thetwooperatetogether asanintegralunit.Thevalvesandcylindersforlifting andtiltingtheheaderaremountedonthewindrower, asareallthehydrauliccontrols.

The750HDheadercontains12discmowingmodules,whilethe770HDheadercontains14discmowingmodules.Anaugerfeedsthecroptotwomolded rubberinter-meshingchevronconditionerrolls.Ahydraulicpumponthewindrowersuppliesallpowerfor theheader.

Thewindrowercontrolsthespeedoftheheaderineither automaticormanualmode.Intheautomaticmode,the speedisheldconstantregardlessofthespeedofthe windrower.Inthemanualmode,thespeedvarieswith thewindrowerenginespeed.Themodeissetfromthe windrowercab.

NOTE:Onthisequipment,leftandrightaredeterminedbystandingbehindtheunit,lookinginthedirectionoftravel.

PRODUCTIDENTIFICATIONNUMBER(PIN)

ThePINplate,1,forthediscmower-conditioneris locatedatthebackontheleftsideoftheframe.

JACKASSEMBLY

Therearetwojackstandsbuiltintotheheader,1,one oneachsideoftheunit.

SHIELDING

NOTE: Beforeraisingeitherofthefrontshields,unhookthecutterbarshieldskirtspringsnaps,1,atthe skirtoverlaps.Besurethattheskirtsarereattached beforeusingtheheaderagain.

Whenraised,thefrontshieldsareheldinplacebya lever,1.Theleverautomaticallyspringsintothelock astheshieldisraised.Tolowertheshield,release theleverbypushingittotheside.

WARNING

Closeshieldspriortooperatingthemachineto preventdamagetotheshield.Runningtheheader withadamagedshieldmayresultinbodilyinjury fromflyingobjects.Failuretocomplycouldresult indeathorseriousinjury.

Therightsideshieldcanbeliftedbyreleasingtwo rubberstraps,1,onthefrontandrearoftheshield, andpivotingtheshieldupward.Lifttheshieldpart wayandremovethelatchrod,2,fromtheslotinthe shield.Raisetheshieldfullyandhooktherodintothe slotinthetopoftheshieldtosupporttheshield.

LIGHTS

Therearetwowarninglightsontheheader,1.One oneachoutboardside.Theseactashazardflashers andturnsignallights.Theyareoperatedfromthecab ofthewindrower.

STORINGTHEHEADER

Whenpreparingtheheaderforstorage:

1.Cleantheheaderthoroughly.Removeanybuildup ofdebrisandanywrappedmaterialfromthecutter barandtheconditionerrolls.

2.Lubricatetheheader.

3.Draintheoilfromallgearboxesandrefillwith cleanoilofthecorrectspecificationtothecorrect level.Runtheheaderforafewminutes.

4.Inspectforwornorbrokenparts.Replacewith genuinefactoryparts.

5.Relieverollpressure.

6.Removetensionfromtherolldrivebelt.

7.Cleanrustedorabradedareasandtouchupwith factorypaint.Spraycansareavailablefromyour authorizeddealer.

8.Storetheheaderwhereitisnotexposedto weather.

HEADER

Installation

1.Lowertheliftarmsasmuchaspossible.Applya liberalcoatingofmulti-purposegreasetothelift cups,1.

2.Drivethetractoruptotheheadersothelifting cupsontheliftarmsaredirectlybelowthelift bushings,2.Raisetheliftarmsuntiltheyarefirmly inplace.Raisethejackstandsintothestorage position.

3.Removethepinholdingtheheadertiltcylinder inthestoragepositionandconnectittothe headerusingaclevispin.Onthe770HDheader thecylinderonlyhasoneholetoconnecttoon theheader.Whentheheadertiltchannelis installedintherearwardholes,1,thisprovides acuttingrangeof1-1/2inchto3inch.When installedintheforwardholes,2,thecutting rangeis1inchto2-1/4inch.Theforwardholes onthetiltchannelshouldbeusedformost crops.

IMPORTANT:Donotusethishole,3,tostoreapin whiletheheaderisattached.Damagetothetiltcylinder andbaseunitwillresult.

4.Retractthetiltcylinderorraisetheheaderto causetheslidinglinktomovetotheoperating position.Installtheretainingpin,4.Connectthe wireharnessfortheheaderspeedsensorand flashers.

5.Startthetractor,raisethearmsuptothemaximumraisedpositionandengagetheheaderlock bypullingrearwardonthehandle.Theheader lock,1,islocatedontheleftfrontcornerofthe windrower.Thehandleisshownhereinthe lockedposition.

WARNING

Alwaysengageheaderliftlockrodsorchannels whenworkingaroundorunderaraisedheader andwhentransportingmachineonapublicroad. Failuretocomplycouldresultindeathorserious injury.

7.Disengagetheheaderliftlockasshown.

8.Cleanthehydrauliccouplersandconnectthe headerdrivemotorhydraulichosestothequick couplersonthewindrowerframe.

NOTE:Thetractorenginewillneedtobeshutoffin ordertoconnectthehydraulichoses.

9.Adjusttheheaderflotationbeforeusingthe headerinthefield.Refertotractoroperatorís manualforsettingtheheaderfloatation.

Removal

1.Disconnecttheheaderdrivemotorhosesfrom thewindroweratthequickcouplers.

2.Connectthemaleconnectorfromtheleftheader motortothefemaleconnectorfromtheright headermotorandconnectthefemaleconnector fromtheleftmotortothemaleconnectorfromthe rightmotor.Thiswillensurethatthecouplersremaincleanandwillprovideafluidpathtoprevent motorsealfailure.

WARNING

Alwaysengageheaderliftlockrodsorchannels whenworkingaroundorunderaraisedheader andwhentransportingmachineonapublicroad. Failuretocomplycouldresultindeathorserious injury.

3.Startthewindrowerandraisetheheaderallthe way.

4.Engagetheheaderlock,1,locatedontheleft frontcornerofthewindrower.Thehandleis shownhereinthelockedposition.

5.Removetheheaderliftarmpins,1.

6.Lowerthejackstands,2.

7.Disengagetheheaderliftlockasshown.

8.Lowertheheadersotheskidshoesandjackstands areontheground.Adjustthejackstandssotheskid shoescontactthegroundwhilethejackstandsare stillseveralinchesofftheground.Thiswillcausethe headertorockbackwardasitislowered,taking forceoffoftheheadertiltcylinder.

9.Disconnectthewireharnessfortheflashersand theheaderspeedsensor,1.

10.Removetheheadertiltcylinderretainingpin,1,on thewindrowertoallowfreemotionofthecylinder. Extendorretracttheheadertiltcylinderasrequired torelievethepressureonpin,2,connectingthe cylindertotheheader.

11.Securethetiltcylinderintheraisedpositionby insertingpin,2,throughthecylinderandmount at3.

IMPORTANT:Donotusehole,3,tostoreapinwhile theheaderisattached.damagetothetiltcylinder andbaseunitwillresult.

12.Lowertheliftarmsasmuchaspossible.

13.Backthetractorawayfromtheheader.Besure theliftingcups,1,directlybelowtheliftbushings, 2,havedroppedaway.

ELECTRICALCONNECTIONS

Therearetwoelectricalconnectorsontheheader.The speedsensorconnectorontheheaderhastwowires attachedandjoinstotheconnectoronthewindrower withtwowires.Theotherconnectorhastwowiresand isforthelightsontheheader.Theconnectoronthe headerisconnectedatlocation,1.

HYDRAULICCONNECTIONS

Sixhydraulichosesconnecttheheadertothewindrower.Therearetwosupplyhoses,twooilreturn hosesandtwomotorcasedrainhoses.Thesehoses areconnectedtothewindroweratthefrontframe.
