Building Tour

First Wednesday of the month 10am, £5

Our building tours take place on the first Wednesday of each month To keep it fresh we focus on a different aspect of the building for each tour. In September we'll be taking a closer look at our WWI memorial board and the memorial board in our archive (believed to be from St Patrick's church) We'll discuss historic memorial services and the role Holy Trinity had in keeping local memories alive.

Our Memory Walk is an opportunity to take a nostalgic journey through Sunderland's rich history from the seated comfort of our vestry This month, we present a special recollection event focused on Sunderland's first step back in time and immerse yourself in the stories and memories that shaped these cherished landmarks

Walk Old Sunderland

First Thursday of the month, 10:30-11:30, FREE

This monthly walk around Old Sunderland takes in different landmarks each time, starting and ending at Holy Trinity You'll have a chance to chat, walk and learn with our award winning volunteer guides

Working alongside artist Bethany Stead, you will be working with dry clay and paint to create a small sculptural ship figurehead, exploring a sense of belonging to Sunderland, and connecting to the area’s rich history of merchant shipbuilding.

A part of the Belonging Project, a creative celebration of identifying with your community through workshops and exhibitions. Developed by Pinkcollar Gallery and funded by Arts Council England

Learn the stained glass technique of copper foiling and decorate a recycled jar, to fill with beautiful artwork! Perfect for those who enjoyed our Family focused stained glass suncatcher workshop during the summer. Take inspiration from our William Whailes window and get ready to bond with your loved ones in a fun and engaging workshop!

Quest for the Lunar Keys: Dungeons and Dragons Adventure

Wednesday 4th October 5-7pm, £1. Ages 11-16

At the end of a distant galaxy there lies BOB a huge creature of mass destruction: a slimy monster that’s been acting as a black hole and destroying local asteroid belts and planets Sadly, the galaxy’s most competent heroes have all been evaporated by BOB the Big Old Blob. To safely reach BOB’s territory you must first find three keys scattered across the lands these will ensure he doesn’t swallow you the second you go near him.

Our Young Ambassador volunteers have designed characters, maps, imagery and more to make sure your Dungeon Master has wild stories to help you tell. Beginners friendly, with lots of chances to ask questions and make mistakes

Family Marble Run Fun!

Wednesday 25th October, 10am-12pm, FREE. Ready for some half term family-led fun? Its time to build your very own epic marble run!

Join us and break up the week by bringing the whole family Maybe you can have a ‘friendly’ sibling competition, or rope in other groups and see who can create the best marble run in Sunderland?!

Brenda’s Jewellery Club has fast become a staple event in our popular craft calendar! Whether you are a complete beginner or if you have dabbled in jewellery making before, Brenda will guide and support you to create your very own unique and wearable works of art. While at the club you can learn a variety of fundamental skills and techniques that serve as the foundation for jewellery-making.

Sound Bath, with Good for the Soul

Second Tuesday of the Month

….and breathe! ‘Good for the Soul Holistics’ runs one of her legendary Sound Bath Workshops on the second Tuesday of each month (could you get a more tranquil and serene location to sit, relax and unwind?)

For one hour, forget your worries and anxieties and sink into a tranquil ocean of peaceful soundwaves and experience the healing power of sound

Best of the Fest + 2023 Preview Screening | Sunderland Shorts Film Fest

We've teamed up with our friends at Film Hub North to kick off the 8th edition of Sunderland Shorts Film Festival with a special Pay What You Feel screening celebrating some of our favourite submissions from last year while previewing some fantastic selections from our 2023 line-up!

Social Cinema Screening 6.30pm

Our moving image heritage can be like looking into a mirror from the past, what we see reflected can shine a light on the cracks that we see in our world. This programme of short films produced by the Yorkshire and North East Film Archives explores social and political issues including gender equality, homelessness, poverty, isolation and climate justice that resonate with the present and help us consider our future

Come and see a range of some of this year’s finest submissions to Sunderland Shorts in our Showcase Screening! Featuring a selection of films including Comedy, Drama, Thriller, Documentary and Animation, as well as films made here in the North East

This immersive screening of The Wicker Man is sure to send a chill down your spine. Designed by Sunderland College students, this experience will take you on a journey into the dark heart of the film, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. With live actors, special effects, and surround sound, you'll feel like you're right there in the middle of the action.

This is a must-see event for fans of The Wicker Man and horror movies in general So book your tickets today and experience the terror for yourself!

The Hetton Legacy Film Screening

Take a journey through time as "THE HETTON LEGACY" brings to life the gripping story of Hetton's railway, collieries, and its vibrant community.

The film beautifully weaves together the tapestry of historical events, from the humble beginnings of the railway and collieries in 1822 to the significant milestones that shaped the town's development and community spirit over two centuries
