REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS HOOD ADJUSTMENT

Fore-aft adjustment may be made by moving the hood within the elongated hinge holes.

Vertical adjustment at the front may be made by adjusting the hood bumpers up or down.

2. Support the hood.

3. Loosen the hood (1) mounting bolts.

NOTE:

Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

4. Adjust the hood to the front fender clearance gap to between 2.5-5.5 mm (0.10-0.22 in) on each side of the hood. Tighten the hood mounting bolts.

Tighten: Tighten the hood mounting bolts to 13 N.m (9 lb ft).

5. Remove the hood support.

6. Lower the hood.

Vertical Adjustment

1. Raise the hood.

2. Rotate the hood bumpers (1).

Fig. 2: Rotating Hood Bumpers Courtesy of GENERAL MOTORS CORP. 3. Adjust the height of the hood bumpers (1) until hood front clearances are flush at a measurement of within -1.5 to +1.5 mm (-0.06 to +0.06).

4. Lower the hood.

Removal Procedure

2. Remove the hood front bumper (1) from the vehicle by unscrewing.

2. Perform the vertical hood adjustment. Refer to Hood Adjustment .

3. Lower the hood.

2. Install protective covers over the front fenders (2) to prevent paint damage.

4. Fold back the hood insulator (1) in order to access the nozzles and supply hose.

7. Remove the 2 mounting bolts which secure the hood (1) to each of the hood hinges (3).

8. Remove the hood with the aid of a helper.

Fig. 9: Loosening/Tightening Mounting Bolts Courtesy of GENERAL MOTORS CORP. IMPORTANT: Before installing the hood, be sure to apply anti-corrosion treatment to the hood and hood hinge mating surfaces. Refer to Anti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair in Paint/Coatings.

1. Install the hood (1) with the aid of a helper to the hood hinges (3), aligning the mating marks. Secure the hood with 2 mounting bolts at each hinge. Do not tighten fully.
