ABOUT US

CALEUCHE is a premium wine brand that originates from the Maule Valley of Chile. Its name refers to the mythical ghost ship of Chiloé Island. It is one of the most important myths of the culture of Chile.

The Maule Valley is located in the southern part of Chile's Central Valley. This area, where we find the largest vineyards in all of Chile, has a tradition of growing grapes that dates back to the 17th century.

Located between the Andes Mountains and the Chilean Coast Range, the Maule Valley benefits from a significant temperature variation between day and night, with its rainy season restricted mainly to winter. These conditions allow us to obtain healthy grapes, with high concentrations of color, flavor and aromas.

In our CALUECHE wines we look for ripe and expressive grapes, with good concentration and round tannins, which are reborn in this bottle after a long journey from the Maule Valley of Chile.

“The Call of the Sea”

The story he related comes from the cool, misty shores of Chiloé Island: The Legend of the Caleuche.

The Caleuche, according to Chilean legend, is a ghost ship that sails the canals of southern Chile and is tripulated by powerful sorcerers. The ship sails at night, and there is always a continuous flow of magic, music, party and wine on board. If someone who is not a witch or sorcerer approaches the ship, they quickly become a floating piece of wood forever.
