Hello, I am Atiqah Aziz and this is my portfolio

By means of Introduction, I am 22 years old Malaysian Fresh graduate seeking to learn and

expand my references in the architectural and design field. I am passionate about architectural values and the professional practices that it involves. Graduated student of 19/22 in Bachelor of sience (Architecture studies) in International Islamic University .

I was born and raised in Rawang, Selangor. A medium-sized town in west Malaysia. I graduated there and during my journey in university, I had opportunity to participate in designed competition between my hostel and overall hostel in designing bus stop competition in 2021. These experiences allowed me to become a good player at teamwork, as well as it made me good at problem solving and working in deadline-driven environments.

I am an active and dedicated Architecture student who is passionate in serving the industry with various leadership background, creative process and punctuality that looks forward to being a part of design team. Having strong interest in design development,

construction, documentation, detailing solutions,graphics and model-making. I also can speak three language(Malay, English and Mandarin)

Introduction of projects

In this portfolio, I will highlight three project from Architecture Part I studies. Firstly, Youth training and community center designed to assist the youth in improving their income or lifestyle during the pandemic. The design of the youth training hub shall consider the adaptation to COVID-19 such as a ‘new normal’ space planning, building technologies, social activities, etc.

The Youth Training Hub are facilities designed to provide a safe, informal and supervised environment for young people. They accommodate unstructured social interaction among different age groups and provide the space to offer more structured activities

Moreover, the second project is a group project of 15 as multidisciplinary team.

International Islamic University Malaysia has been working on IIUM low carbon initiative to achieve a healthy for overall IIUM community. Hence, the project of bicycle shed is being proposed to encourage IIUM community to engage with activities especially bicycle riding. The design will reflect to IIUM's vision and 7 missions, Islamic values and implementation of the SDG goals. The proposition, creative design and ideas should be suitable with IIUM's future green environment with the use of suitable and environmentally friendly materials. Moreover, reflecting upon the Islamic perspective of having a healthy lifestyle, the Quran has stated that: " Do not with your hand throw yourself into ruin" (2:195)

Lastly, the third project is a residences design with a concept of greenery. The project is randomly given to the student to explore their creativity in designing interior and exterior of a house. This project is inline with 3d modelling subject to improves student skills in sketch up and Revit. All these project are related to Sustainable Development Goals(SDG) as It refers to development that meets current needs without negatively affecting the ability of future generations to meet their own. The goal of sustainable design is to improve building performance by lowering negative environmental impacts as well as improving the health and comfort of building occupants.

WE HAVE TO BASE ARCHITECTURE ON ENVIRONMENT -TOYO ITO-

THE LINK The link is a youth training and community center, a

mix youth on the edge of Tanjung Malim. Located in Mualim Perak. It linking between old town adn new

town divided by KTM rail at his heart contains 100 people with 1 building in public for café, retail and

multipurpose area open to Tanjing Malim community

and another building in semi public facilitating 3 main

skill which is Marketing, animation and videography.

Meanwhile private area for office. The problem faced

in Tanjung Malim, having investigate that the youth population in Tanjung Malim is decreasing and less

job opportunity that makes the youth migrate to the

city. Thus, the project of youth community center is proposed where young people can meet and

participate in a variety of activities to keep them off

the streets and out of troubles beside giving them job and interest in activity. Animation and videography is easiest and trendy way to make money nowadays.

Energetic is one of youth characteristic to be young with great energy would give a person a ctively learn a new skill in this project. Energetic translate into dynamic vibrant, creating joyful centre with motion of energy and personality that can connect people and people, with nature and surrounding. The link created to empower the capability of the individual youth. As the typology, Tanjung Malim need spark to have improvement where it will lead by the youth centre as one of the link or new attraction. Thus the building reflecting dynamism as it rooted in our modern culture.

CONCEPT

International Islamic university malaysia is about connection between people from all walks of life.

This perfectly mirrors the low cabon campus initiative, where bike paths are going to be implemented throughout iium that will all be connected.

In order to visualize the connection to the design, the heart is used as the symbol of connection in human body through blood circulation system. The capillary function as the transport for human blood and oxygen to the tissues throughout the body, which serve the same function as the bike, generally.

This perfectly idealized the concept for

our bike

shed, which is "the living link". The design principle that were used are movement and hierarchy, which the architectural style are biomimicry and fluidity

The spatial organization that we decided on

using

is

called

linear,

while

the

circulation will focus on the center of the shed.

Our

space

planning

starts

with

separating the spaces by zoning, which are

active

and

semi

active.

Then,

the

bubble diagram is constructed, also with the separation of spaces by private, semi private and public spaces. After passing through the entrance, the user can park their bicycle either on the upper or the lower

side,

what the

type

of

electronic

bicycle parking on the upper side, there is a recycle station, and then next to it is the

service

room

and

the

toilet.

Then,

there will be a fountain at the center.

There are also two resting areas which serve

different

purposes,

one

is

for

focusing and the other one is more like a place for leisure. Near to the entrance of KAED,

there

is

a

small

space

for

pwd

bicycle parking to ensure that the pwd people have easy access to the building.

P.1-Design development

As for the activities, our first target users were of course cyclists. Thus, we included three

bicycle

parkings,

one

near

KAED,

PARKING A, one near KOE, PARKING B and one for electric bicycles.

Two of the parkings have a designated disabled

parking

that

ease

access

to

people with disabilities. The parking for electric bicycles offers special charging stations for their bikes. And the one near the

entrance,

also

offers

a

DIY

repair

station in case any mishaps happen to their bikes.

The second area is the Focus Area. We took

note

that

our

site

is

located

in

campus, and in campus, most people are there to study.

So

we

designed

a

space

specially

to

allow them to study, read books, or even have group discussions. The focus area divides into two, with the bar style table for people who want to study alone, and also

a

specially

designed

modular

furniture to allow group discussions and such.

The third area is the Recycle Station. For this

area,

Sejahtera

we

took

inspiration

from

Centre

for

Sustainability

and

Humanity of IIUM. They are part of the IIUM

Go-Green

Committee

and

is

the

secretariat of said committee.

In accordance to that, it consists of seven areas, and area number four is Waste.

Waste

management

is

crucial

in

the

green management. Especially in KAED, it is common to see people using recyclable materials such as paper, cardboard and plastic for their projects and just throwing them away after finishing their project.

From the elevation, we still maintain the fluidity of the capillary by making it slightly curvy with the usage of columns that also mimics the shape of the veins spreading to the roof. The front elevation shows the main entrance of our bicycle shed, and the exit to the KAED and KOE building.

DAMAI RASA

Located at Taman Rumbia utama, which is at heart of historical city in Malacca. This corner Bungalow owned by a policeman who lives in countryside before . The village ambience really catches visitor feeling. Big land on both side of the bungalow attract people to do gardening and as an area for children to play around. Modern design of the house with traditionally/ village touch to appreciate and treasure the traditional element in daily life.

Color combination is grey, brown and white for exterior meanwhile warm color for interior.

Using natural material for finishes such as wood plank and concrete stone tiles. A house of 3 bedroom and 2toilet.
