How did you first get into music production, and what sparked your passion for hip-hop specifically?

Rocky Blanco:

I was always obsessed with the sounds I heard in Music, Commercials, TV Shows, and Movies, and how they were made I have been in studios most of my adult life I use to sit, and watch what the Producers were doing to create the music they were making I started co producing tracks in the late 90s early 2000s with Producers I was working with, mostly Hip Hop, & RnB Being I grew up in a Hip Hop atmosphere it is what I generally gravitate towards Thru the years I have become inspired with producing in all genres,and even mixing genres to create a unique sound

Rocky Blanco: That can be a tedious process at times Finding the right sound, and conveying what you hear in your head into the production I like to listen to old records, and listen to all the instruments, and arrangements, the drops, the breaks, the bridges, and what instruments sit where in the mix Doing this gives me inspiration into what I'm going to create I will say having a Large Library of sounds, and Multiple VSTs, is my key to having plenty of sounds to work with.

10OutOf10Promos: Blame Blanco Productions has a unique style. How would you describe the signature sound that sets your productions apart in the hip-hop scene?

Rocky Blanco: Can you share some insights into your creative process when producing a new track? How do you approach crafting beats and finding the right sounds?

I guess you could say it's my ear for sound, and how everything fits into the production, like a puzzle, to bring the picture to life. I like to cross genres as well, I feel that has Attributed to my uniqueness also What sets me apart is I don't strive to make music the way, or in the style of the next person, I stick to my formula, and reach for something that sounds new, that hasn't been heard before.

Rocky Blanco: Definitely I have Collaborated with Artists , and Producers alike, so I have many great stories of those I have had the pleasure to work with I will say the first time working with B Rocking10 (TX) was a great memory He was one of the first Artists to kill one of my beats, and it's pretty much been up from there I have also worked with some other Great Talents, Chucky WorkClothes (IN) Young Promiss (NV) Zig Zag (IN) Shanny Allure (VA) to name a few, I have also Collaborated with Diggy Diamond (NY) a Fellow Producer that I have been working with for a while All of these collaborations have pushed me further, and kept me motivated to keep making music

10OutOf10Promos: Have you ever faced a creative block when producing music? How did you overcome it?

Rocky Blanco: Yes it happens time to time, as I had stated in a Previous question, I like to listen to old records, or a different genre than what I might be producing for I find inspiration from many sources as well, a walk outside, meditation, looking at, and hearing Nature, it helps so when I do go to produce a track, I have a clear vision of what I want to come up with

10OutOf10Promos: As a producer, what challenges do you face in staying innovative and relevant in a constantly evolving music landscape?

Rocky Blanco: As far as challenges, there are many, in order to overcome them I am constantly learning, and evolving with it The thing is there's not a day that goes by that I haven't learned something new, I try to keep

myself sharp by being a student of the craft, and always looking for new sounds, new FX plugins, new VSTs ETC I also have a great team of mentors , like my Brother, and Best Friend William Brown IV, He is a Well Known Percussionist, and has been keeping me on my toes over the past 24 years, always testing me to grow, and reach new horizons in music production:

10OutOf10Promos: How do you balance maintaining a consistent production quality while experimenting with new and unconventional elements in your music?

Rocky Blanco: I don't lol. For me Balance is keeping myself indulged in the experiments to bring them to the surface of being part of my production, and the quality of it. I do take days at times, to play with new sounds and see how I can incorporate them into my production, without it sounding awkward. I feel without the experimentation, it causes repetitive, and lackluster beats.

10OutOf10Promos: Technology has transformed the music production process What tools and software do you find essential in your studio setup, and how do they contribute to your sound?

Rocky Blanco:

I currently use FL Studio for Production, and Protools for Recording, Mixing, and Mastering I like FL Studio, the workflow is seamless, and all the recently added updates, have, made it that much better, for those that use FL Studio know what I mean I also have a few go to VSTs for sounds, as well as folders for days of sounds, instruments, drums, effects, and everything I need to stay consistent, and keep sounding fresh

Rocky Blanco: When it comes to Hip Hop I stay very aware to the Culture shifts, and changes I strive to make Beats that pull from emotion, and can be made into inspiring music As a Producer always staying innovative, and to be able to cross thru those lines to shine, and bring diversity to the culture is key

10OutOf10Promos: Looking ahead, what projects or goals do you have for the future of Blame Blanco Productions, and how do you envision your continued impact on the hiphop scene?

Rocky Blanco:

10OutOf10Promos: The hip-hop industry often intersects with various social and cultural issues How do you see your role as a producer in contributing to or reflecting on these themes through your music?

I am currently working with a few new talented Artists, and I have recently teamed up with some great people to be able to bring a 1 stop shop for success as an independent artists, I will be part of the Team as Producer, Graphic Designer, and Artist Development, along side some very talented, engineers, videographers, podcasters, marketing, and distribution reps. I will be starting to mentor, and teach classes both in person, and online, to help People that want to become Artists, or Artists that

need a little boost in their performance I will also be working on 2 Major Projects TBA soon as all is finalized So I have quite the year ahead of me As far as the Hip Hop scene I will always be a devout member of the community But when it Comes to Production it's Music First, and I see myself not just being known as a Hip Hop Producer but a Music Producer of all Kinds
