LTC Joe Gann Commander st 1 Battalion, 405th Army Field Support Brigade Kaiserslautern, Germany

Lt. Col. Joe Gann assumed command of the 1st Battalion, 405th Army Field Support Brigade, on Aug. 4, 2010. Prior to joining the brigade, he was the branch chief for the J43 exercise and plans branch, Headquarters, U.S. Forces Japan. Lt. Col. Gann was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army Infantry Corps in 1991 following his graduation from California State University, Fresno. After his initial officer training, he served in the 9th Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division in Fort Ord, Calif., as an infantry platoon leader, mortar platoon leader, support platoon leader and S3 air. Following his advanced officer training in the Ordnance Corps, he served with the 302nd Forward Support Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division at Camp Casey, Korea, where he served as a maintenance officer in the support operations office. Later, he was assigned to the 51st Maintenance Battalion in Mannheim, Germany, were he held the S1 (personnel), maintenance officer in the support operations office, and S3 (training and operations) positions. He also commanded the 502nd Maintenance Company. After completing his command, he served in Sierra Leone, Africa, as a military advisor before moving to Korea as the support operations officer for the 23rd Area Support command. He then served with the 1/25th Stryker Brigade Combat Team as Brigade S-4 and then support operations officer. Lt. Col. Gann is a graduate of the Command and General Staff College (Resident). His awards include the Bronze Star Medal, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Army Commendation Medal with four oak leaf clusters, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal and numerous other campaign medals. He wears the Combat Action, Ranger, Airborne and Air Assault Badges.
