ABOUT THE FIRM

Graphite Graphics is a design Studio dedicated to making the physical world around it better for everyone. Based out of their combined workshop and design studio in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. We create buildings, spaces.master-plans, objects and infrastructure. Focusing on projects of different scales in the northern part of India, They prioritise those with the greatest positive social impact. Working as practical inventors with no signature style, their motivation is to design soulful and interesting places which embrace and celebrate the complexities of the real world. The approach driving everything is to lead from human. experience rather than any fixed design dogma.

The studio’s founder Vivek Namdev comes from a background immersed in materials and making. His curiosity and passion for problem-solving matured into the studio’s current design process where every architect, designer. Now the studio is handover to Ar.Adithya sharma who is the ceo of the company . An architect who is encouraged to challenge and contribute ideas Positive and pragmatic, the studio’s team are collaborators whose role is to listen, question, then lead the conception and construction of special and unusual places, Ingenuity and inspiration are used to make projects that are affordable and buildable. And their client is vital, who comes on the journey and challenges their thinking: together they look for the opportunities that might traditionally be overlooked. Their best future projects are the ones that will teach them the most.

The journey started as a student towards the Professional Life with the aim in mind to learn the Practical aspect of life, ended as a memorable experience. No work can be completed without other’s help or contribution.

The client requires a living room that should be bright and which provides a scene of height so making that work we made the celine stepped and the backdrop is decided in such a way that the material used brings off the luxury of the room and semi-transparent partition with white and wood work blends with the space. The provisions of Cove lights will highlight the backdrop and create a cozy atmosphere around the room. Vertical bars are provided in the living room on the entrance to define the boundary of the room and which act as a tv unit

The second living room which acts as a personal and private family gathering area only for the residents of the house to spend their quality time. The ceiling provided is very simple and are provided with pop moulding around the false ceiling which will create the interest in people and doesn’t make the people lose their interest in the room. The TV unit is provided with maple wood textured laminate which will give a warm feel.

The design of the dining area is in such a way that it’s a bit luxurious and has a connection between the personal living room which is divided into two areas one with a heavy wooden ceiling and credenza since that part is directly open towards the staircase which will give a grand welcoming. The dining space is provided with a simple false ceiling with pop around it in which cove lights are provided for ambiance. Also a shelf with mirror in the centre and cove lights in each division to make the shelf more attractive and to keep the grand feel of the room

The client requires a dark theme kitchen so to make the theme more aesthetically pleasing we provide maple wood and black coloured laminates and for the contrast we provided it with white marble in the floor and kitchen top. The ceiling of the kitchen is simple with pop moulding around the depression and which is supported with cove lights which doesn’t make the people lose their interest about the space.

PLAN

A contrast of black and white is used and to highlight bathroom accessories the material used is brass. The strip of band that is from the floor to the wall is given in black tile which emphasizes the entry view of the bathroom. Cove lights are provided around the bathroom. Which flushes the light around the walls of the bathroom which in turn creates an ambience in the bathroom

The master bedroom is a large area which is divided into two zones one with a bed area and the other with the walk in closet . The child is provided with wooden texture and the room is given with 5 different types of lightning for ambience and to create mood.

The master bedroom is a villager area with a jacuzzi ,a seat area , a vanity and a separate partition for wc and bath. The metal in the bathroom is brass and maple wood texture is used as a master material. Provided in between the pillars so that it gives a sense of height while in the bathroom. The geyser and exhaust are please about the false ceiling so that they doesn’t disturb the beauty of the bathroom

The long hallway is partitioned into two areas one with the raised platform for the family to sit together and another with a TV unit and sofa the backdrop of the TV unit is of stone laminate and the seating space backdrop is of wooden louvers to emphasize the wall. And at the end is the pooja room with a window in the back . The fall ceiling in the hall is of the false ceiling in the ground floor which is to provide sense of height in the room.

Requirement for this room was a simple bedroom with wardrobe and a tv unit which is provided with a simple ceiling with pop moulding with provide an ambience in the room. The flooring here is wooden panel floor tile. A study area is provided with the TV unit for the client’s sister. The backdrop of the bedroom is simple and minimalist design that highlights the war behind the bed and the cove lights provided will flushes and highlights the wall.

The bar unit in the terrace is provided with a sloping roof and all three sides with UPVC glass window to enhance the view around the site. The bar unit is completely with different wooden textures which gives a sense of luxury in the bar. The bar unit is designed in such a way that it has a mini fridge and oven which is kept hidden in the cabinet. The ceiling is not closed with a false ceiling so that the pattern of the dressing can be covered with wooden textures and also give a sense height

The entry point of the appointment has a leaving dining area which the client needs a pastel team . In the ceiling coves are provided on two sides which flashes the wall and highlights the main entry wall . The TV wall is designed by pop moulding which emphasizes the wall. The pastel colour provided in the living room gives a sense of calmness . The fall ceiling design is shared between the living and the dining room because of the beams passing through both sides which brings a common entity in the room . The wood used in the ceiling brings about a contrast in the ceiling design and brings a focus point on the ceiling.

Bedroom ideas is divided by a small 6 feet partition work with the TV unit which separates the room from the bed area and the dressing area the backdrop of the bed is heavy and the cove provided will flushes the wall and highlight it. The wardrobe here is the different approach with pastel colour with gap in the bottom for showing its luxury.

The main materials used here are wood and almond coloured stone tile to bring about the modern and luxurious feel in the house. The wooden partition wall which acts as a shelf for the reading space separates the reading and pooja room. Large windows are provided near the reading and pooja are to attain maximum light. The ceilings provided are of wooden textures laminate to bring about the depth in the ceiling. Cove lights are provided all around the room to bring ambience in the space.

Old bedrooms are provided with five different types of lights to change the ambience of the room according to the mood of the client the lights are cove lights, spot lights, cob lights, floor lamps, bed lamps. The bedrooms are provided with bed benches so it can be used while dressing up . The ceilings provided are of wooden textures laminate to bring about the depth in the ceiling. Cove lights are provided all around the room to bring ambience in the space.

The client required the living room with pastel colours and Jali works . So the room is of an L shaped sofa and two chairs. Cove lights are provided on all for walls which will flush the light through the wall and highlight the wall . Curtain pelmets are provided near the window area so it will hide the top portion of the curtain which will bring a clean look to the space.

The fireplace is of wooden frame and stone laminate above the chimney to emphasize the fire chimney. Also the wall behind the fire chimney is textured with soft fur material so that when we enter the room the wall will bring a scene of heaviness in the room. Also the jali used in the wall continues towards the ceiling and on which cove lights are provided which will in turn change the ambiance of the room. PLAN SECTION AA

A site visit for goldy bhiya at palampur first floor slab casting in there we saw how steel was placed before the slab casting and the steel section were bent for increasing the strength of the slab and also how supports were given beneath the steel frame before casting . Also we saw the use of ACB (aerated cement blocks) is used in walls to reduce the load in ground floor.

Site visit for Residence for Adhunik to check the grid pattern in the HPL sheets placed beneath the shading of outdoor gathering area. Also check the constitution progress in the site with the barbeque grill and the bathroom tile placement.

Mr.suraj chhetri at yol to check the finishing of the false ceiling and the furniture which is according to the design . The finishing of tiling in the floor and bathroom walls and discussion with the client about minor changes in the interior design.

bharatbhushan at shyamnagar for measuring the existing building and checking the updates on the construction and designing the first floor plan and discussion with the client and give the client an idea about how much the existing building can be extended.
