SEMI - HOUSING WITH AN ART STUDIO THAT IS DESIGNED ALONG THE WATERFRONT

Quiet and more peaceful area (lesser people passing by)

Weather is hotter compared to other areas

Spectacular view that allows client to get inspiration from (site opposite of MBS, Esplanade and Fullerton hotel)

Peaceful atmosphere to allow clients to have concentration on arts

The design process - from a cube to the current design

Using organic shapes to form the building form - to soften the exterior so that it flows with the curve. The living space is designed to block the gallery from the seaclear division between private and public areas

DESIGNINTENT &CONCEPT

A linked walkway between the living space and studio - able to move freely around.

An additional outdoor gallery space to display artworks - for people to walk along the space and experience them.

A hidden sliding door from the wall divider (art studio) - saves space and prevents others from spotting it.

Located within Spottiswoode Park, Space Zen transforms the traditional sports and recreational venue into a holistic sanctuary where community bonds thrive, inclusivity prevails, and individuals effortlessly reconnect with nature through biophilic design. Its seamless integration with nature blurs the distinction between indoor and outdoor spaces, flooding the interior with natural light and enriching it with lush greenery.

Biophilic design elements, like natural materials and water features, deepen this connection while panoramic views of the surrounding landscape enhance the experience. Visitors embark on a sensory journey, where sight, sound, touch, and scent converge, guiding them through interconnected spaces and encouraging interaction.

Situated around Space Zen, a landscaped park extends the sanctuary outdoors, providing a serene retreat for outdoor activities and moments of connection. Ultimately, Space Zen transcends its original purpose as a sports facility, emerging as a dynamic community hub dedicated to well-being, connection, and appreciation for nature's beauty.

AN ECO-GARDEN WITH UNIQUE AMENITIES FOR SUSTAINABILITY

An Eco - Garden with unique features and amenities

The space is to raise awareness about sustainability and allow people to pay more attention to their environment through this social issue.

Through the water-powered generator from the pond, energy is being reused and reduced, hence conserving the power used. This acts as a solution for energy wastage and encourages people to care about their environment.

The amenities included are Garden, Cafe and Restrooms. The cafe features traditional food and brings back the nostalgic taste

Water from the pond is being used for the plants. Apart from that, electricity is also being powered to LED lights from the water power generator, therefore, reducing carbon emissions.

AN INTERACTIVE SCHOOL INSTALLATION

Light interaction

Interactive installation placed in School of Design and Environment foyer (Ngee Ann Polytechnic).

Inspired by the form of tulips and uses light source to engage users passing by that area. It is used to display items that students can strike conservations upon, hence making the installation as the main interesting focus at the foyer.

To enhance the community bonds and living environments in Keat Hong Estate through a sustainable lifestyle.

Through the use of love languages in different spaces to increase the interactions between different generations, hence transforming the space into a more lively and sociable environment.

A LANDSCAPE DECKING INCORPORATED WITH A VIEWING TOWER

Blending in perfectly with the surrounding natural landscape of Spottiswoode Park, Spottiswoode Park is home to Contour Heights, an architectural work of a viewing tower with contoured deckings. The contoured deckings not only enhance the visual appeal of the tower, but also provide visitors with a unique vantage point to appreciate the panoramic views of the surroundings. As visitors ascend the tower, they are treated to breathtaking views, ranging from the bustling Railway train station to the tranquil HDB blocks and the lush greenery that surrounds the site.

A CURATED SHOPPING PLATFORM FOR LOCAL SUSTAINABLE AND ETHICAL FASHION

A curated shopping platform that provides local sustainable and ethical fashion. Due to social media influence and lack of availability or trustworthy information/platforms, there is a lack of awareness for slow fashion in adult shoppers.

This application is to encourage people to shop sustainably and ethically so that we can play a part in improving the global environment. Sustainable fashion means that we can save natural resources and reduce the carbon footprint, resulting in decarbonization and lesser pollution.

AN APPLICATION SYSTEM FOR STOCK-TAKING AND MANAGEMENT EFFICIENCY

A system that can efficiently process and manage a merchandize so that a sole entrepreneur could make better and more calculated decisions in stockkeeping management.

Idea consists of a vending machine with a panel that can benefit both the users and buyers. The panel is designed through Figma to show the user experience from the buyer and seller’s perspective. It can act as a system for the sellers to keep track of their stocks and manage it more efficiently.

A DANGLING AIRPLANE TOY MADE FROM RECYCLED LEATHER

Made out of recycled leather, Dynamic 380 is a dangling airplane toy that can allow babies to play and learn with. By playing with the airplanes, they can learn and build up cognitive skills, as well as gross motor skills. Apart from these, Dynamic 380 is also attractive to babies as it is made in a small and adorable form . Inspired by the form of airplanes as this was a special collaboration project by SIA and Scanteak.
