There’s been no shortage of chaos lately, but we’re here with some good news: the snow is falling and getting outside is still the best way to stay healthy (and keep from going COVID crazy). We can still turn laps with our friends at our favorite resorts and venture out into the backcountry. Other good news: Giro continues to lead the way on snow. We’re just as committed as ever to testing and developing game-changing helmets and goggles. We are a product brand at heart, and we haven’t lost focus on enhancing the ride for snowboarders, skiers and cyclists. If anything, the pandemic has galvanized our commitment. As a brand we’re not just stable, we’re thriving. And you’re going to see the results of that commitment in our product line and our presence on the mountain.

AN EXPANDED FIELD OF VIEW HOW UNIQUE LENS SHAPES YIELD UNRIVALED PERIPHERAL VISION Giro made headlines with the introduction of the Contour goggle last season. Now we’re excited to introduce the Contour RS, a slightly more refined silhouette that still boasts the same breakthrough field of view of EXV+. The heart of EXV+ is a proprietary, semi-spherical lens curvature (6 x 1.5-degrees) that allows a wider field of view than ever before. A common misconception is that larger frames offer a wider field of view. Although counterintuitive, your peripheral vision is more often limited by the goggle’s frame and lens shape than its size. Our lab testing has proven that Giro’s EXV models outperform some of the largest fishbowl shapes on the mountain. COLLAB
Bryan Fox stands out with his ideas and creativity just as much as his riding. That’s why we couldn’t be more stoked to have his artwork, representing his upbringing in the desert and his life now as a professional snowboarder, across his Axis goggle. The desert camo pattern, camouflage hydrofilm on the goggle frame, and his illustration of the western rattle snake (hidden on the inside of the strap) speak to Bryan’s roots in Ramona, California. Even the goggle bag itself has a sublimated rattlesnake skin bag that harkens back to the days he’d see these serpents around his hometown. Says Bryan, “I was raised by the desert and the forest, the sand and the snow. These goggles help me see what comes next.” Keep an eye out for the children’s book that will accompany this collab, that will tell a tale from the perspective of Ramona the Rattler.

GIRO X NAMUK This collaboration with Swiss brand Namuk is for the adventurous two- to twelve-year-old shredders. It’s all about a love for the outdoors, being protected on the slopes, and creating innovative products. Spherical Technology, powered by MIPS®, is a refinement and evolution of the Multi-Directional Impact Protection System (MIPS). With this sophisticated design, two layers of foam fit together like a ball-and-socket. This system helps protect the brain from rotational energy by allowing up to 10- to 15-millimeters of relative motion between the helmet and head during the first milliseconds of an impact.
MIPS can provide more protection in certain impacts. The main components of a MIPSequipped helmet are the interior foam liner, the low friction liner, and an elastomeric attachment system. In an angled impact, the elastomeric attachment system stretches to allow the foam liner to rotate independently around your head.
The fully integrated Conform Fit System utilizes a two-piece shell that literally forms to the rider’s head shape by expanding and contracting with the turn of a dial. D2 Construction pairs two densities of Expanded Polypropylene (EPP) foam to manage both highand low-energy impacts. Additionally, EPP offers impressive resilience—this crushable foam regains its shape and retains some of its protective qualities after multiple impacts.
