Monaco: The Essential Relocation Guide

Health Insurance Funds The Principality of Monaco offers three different health insurance funds: − Social Services Compensation Fund (Caisse de Compensation des Services Sociaux) − Social Security Fund for the Self-Employed (Caisse d’Assurance Maladie, Accident et Maternité des Travailleurs Indépendants) − State Medical Benefits Office (Service des Prestations Médicales de l’État) Social Services Compensation Fund The Social Services Compensation Fund known as Caisse de Compensation des Services Sociaux is financed by contributions from employers and calculated based on declared gross salaries within an upper limit. It provides salaried workers and others covered by the scheme with health, maternity, invalidity and life insurance. Beneficiaries such as spouses and dependent children who are not entitled to join other insurance schemes and who are residents in the Principality or in France (or in Italy for Monégasque and Italian nationals) are covered for expenses related to sickness and maternity. The Social Services Compensation Fund provides family and social benefits such as prenatal and family allowances, housing benefit, education allowance, a special allowance for the start of the educational year, an end of year payment, holiday cheques and vouchers for crèches and after school childcare.
