Location:Beijing, China
Wan'an Cemetery, located in Haidian District, Beijing, is one of the earliest modern cemeteries in Beijing's history. The cemetery itself is rich in history and culture, but it does not give full play to its advantages. In addition, due to urban expansion, the cemetery originally located in the suburbs is located in the city center area, and the functions carried by the cemetery cannot meet the needs of its existing users. Therefore, through this design, I want to transform the cemetery into a dynamic place with functions such as mourning, rest and education based on the traditional Five Elements.
Tianshan Cemetery
The cemetery is located in the suburbs, mainly plain wasteland, with simple road traffic, and the cemetery service personnel are mainly people who come to worship.

Tianshan Cemetery (1988)

Wanan Cemetery (1930)
Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery (1949)
Taizi Valley Cemetery
The cemetery is located in the city center with developed transportation and many types of land. The cemetery should serve both the mourners and the surrounding residents and students.
Problems
1. The cemetery has been built for a long time, and the urban expansion makes it unable to meet the needs of the current population.

2. The cemetery uses the "five elements" as the basis for the division of the tomb area, but it is superficial and fails to reflect its core.
Opportunities
1. We can use this platform to educate the public about the traditional Chinese Five Elements culture. expansion makes it unable to meet the needs of the current population.
2. The public can participate in the study of historical and cultural science through the cemetery.

3. The geographical position is superior, which can provide a good place for leisure and recreation for the surrounding residents.
