I am an achiever today and you, too, could do that if you dedicate your time to your studies and are focused on your work. The pupils also promised Thovhele Vho-Mashamba that they would produce better results this year. Thovhele Vho-Ndweleni Mashamba was also on cloud nine, following the achievement by school. “I am the happiest man on earth today, because the school is now on the map.” He echoed the same sentiments: “We want to show everyone that we exist and we are still going to impress, regardless of our rural origin.”

Rudzani “Bravo 1020” Khalushi The well-known Phala Phala FM current affairs (Ndevhetsini) presenter, producer and comedian, Mr Rudzani “Bravo 1020” Khalushi, excels on the air. He was born and bred at Mamuhohi Village (Madzhatsha) in the Nzhelele Area. He attended Pfumbada Primary and he matriculated at Patrick Ramaano Secondary. He used to mimic his teachers and local pastors when he was still at primary school. Khalushi expressed his thanks to his former teacher at Patrick Ramaano, Mr Amos Magosha, who helped him realize his dream through the youth club he had in the village. He mentioned that finances was always a problem for him and he even worked for ZZ2, the company that produces tomatoes in Waterpoort, looking for money to further his studies. “Mr Samson Luvhengo, his wife Lydia and sons Victor and Richard rescued me. They encouraged me to apply for NFSAS assistance and register with the University of Venda to study media studies. I even worked for Univen community ra-

dio,” he said. Khalushi impressed a lot of people when he imitated high-profile people such as former president Nelson Mandela, Robert Mugabe, Zama Masondo, players of Emzini we Zi’ ntsizwa, Mike Mangena, Deshi Baktower, his colleagues and many others. He enjoys working at the actuality programme, Ndevhetsini. “At Ndevhetsini you cannot say you did well yesterday, so today you relax. You must make sure that you inform listeners correctly. One thing is that you work for 24 hours per day. Wherever you are, you are on duty, because if something happens related to the news, you need to report it.” Khalushi said that he wants to go far in the industry. “One needs to be creative in this industry. With the 10-20 hotline, I want to make sure that our listeners memorise it as quickly as possible 083 913 1020!” He said that he was not aware that it would have such a huge impact. It just came to my mind while I was behind the microphone. It suprised everyone, including my colleagues and friends, who are now calling me 10-20,” said Khalushi.
