R18 000 for chess in Nzhelele schools
High aims for new Black Leopards coach
Cash prizes were dished out to the winners of the various categories in the Munei Foundation Nzhelele Schools Chess Tournament that was held at Nzhelele on Saturday. During the prize-giving ceremony that took place after the final, the amount of R18 000 was distributed to the winners. R1 200 went to the champions in the primary schools’ competition, Tshivhilidulu. Radzilani Primary (2nd) went home with R800 and Tshabvuma Primary (3rd) received R500.
The newly appointed coach of Black Leopards, Mr Jairos Tapera, is confident that his team will be campaigning in the Absa Premiership Division come next season. The Zimbabwean recently joined Lidoda Duvha on a threeyear contract. In an interview after his team’s 4-0 victory over Milano United at the Thohoyandou Stadium last Saturday, Tapera said that he was aware of the fact that the season had just started and that they still had 26 league matches to play. “I am aware of the fact the league competition is a marathon, but we are ready to absorb the heat,” he said. When asked about his mandate, the 50-year-old mentor said that his mandate was to take the club to the Absa Premiership Division at the end of the current season. Asked whether the mandate was achievable, the soft-spoken Tapera said that, with the support he was getting from the management and the players, it was possible. In the category for secondary schools, Phiriphiri High took the first position and received R1 200 in both the girls' and boys' division. The runners-up, Tshifhena, collected R800 in both the girls' and boys' division. Mulenga (boys) and Vhusendeka (girls) each received R500 for their third places. of Dimbanyika and Thalukanyo Nevhushoma of Phiriphiri, each received R100. The circuit manager of education in Nzhelele East, Mr David Ramustheli, appealed to businesspeople to get involved in promoting local activities. A representative from the Munei Foundation, Mr Rudzani Mamphaga, stated that his company would continue to sponsor the circuit in the coming years. According to him, the sponsorship will grow with time.

Black Leopards’ two-goal hero, Siphelele Mkhulise. Mashamba Benfica beat Holofan FC 2-1 in the losers' final match of the James Rasimphi Summer Games at Ha-Masia on Saturday. It was evident from the start that Benfica were going to win, as the hosts were outclassed in all departments. Benfica’s goals were scored by Marvelous Mashele and Clerence Thanwana.
