“Vhembe’s finances are in good hands” A local firm of auditors, Agape Chartered Accountants Incorporated, gave the finance committee of the Vhembe Regional Football Association a pat on the shoulder for good financial administration, during the association’s annual general meeting at the Fig Tree Lodge last Saturday. When presenting the audited annual financial statements, a representative from the auditors, Mr TA Ramawa, stated that the Vhembe Regional Football Association was one of the few local non-profit organisations whose finances were properly managed. During the meeting, it was also
revealed that 20 teams were promoted from local football associations to the SAB League last season, while 11 were relegated from the SAB League to the various local football associations. It was also stated that the disciplinary committee of the association had dealt with 62 cases last season. Twenty cases were related to the abandonment of games, while others ranged from assault of referees to the fielding of improperly registered players. It was announced that the region had lost two football legends, Messrs Paul Netshilindi and Johannes Makhaga, during the past months. Mr Makhaga died at the Louis Trich-
ardt Memorial Hospital on 14 September. It was officially announced during the meeting that Shayandima Morning Stars ladies football team had been promoted from the Sasol League to the Absa Women’s League. Two local referees, Mr Olani Kwinda and Ms Lufuno Nemagovhani, who were promoted to officiate in the Premier Soccer League (PSL), were described as good “ambassadors”. It was stated once again that the association had not promoted a team to the Vodacom League after Tshifhire Northern Brothers failed to make the grade in the promotional play-off matches.
Photographed during the ceremony were, from left to right, Messrs Kenneth Neluvhalani (general manager of football at the University of Pretoria), Kirsten Nematandani (President of Safa), George Kubayi (president of Safa Vhembe) and TA Ramawa (auditor). Fixtures
