Three vital points for Young Chiefs

Gogo laid to rest

Ngwenani Young Chiefs kept their title hopes alive by crushing Marula XI FC 3-0 in their MMK Administrators League match at the Tshivhulani grounds on Saturday. Realizing that the visitors were all over them, the home side effected an early change to their starting line-up. They replaced Musatondwa Nedzamba with

One of the areas’s oldest residents, Mrs Mmbulaheni Molovhedzi (104), was buried at Ngovhela Backside last Saturday. Gogo Mulovhedzi was born at Tshitotsheni village on 6 August 1911. She succumbed to a long illness on 14 March. She was blessed with six children, two of whom, including her only son, passed away some years ago. One of her four surviving daughters is a well-known local traditional healer, Vho-Masindi Tshisevhe, who is also a radio presenter. Her other three surviving daughters are Avheani Mulaudzi, Magret Ramunyisi and Mercy Ramalivhana. Apart from the four daughters, Gogo Mulovhedzi is survived by 25 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. Photo: Frank Mavhungu.

Hulisani Tshifura in the 14th minute. The wheel of fortune turned against Marula four minutes later. Their midfielder, Shavhani Netshilaphala, was given his marching orders for using abusive language towards a match official. The Chiefs’ dribbling wizard, Tshifhiwa “One-one” Nedzamba, was also booked in

the 25th minute. He obstructed Elekanyani Makhuvha in the 25-meter area. Young Chiefs opened their account in the 28th minute. Their slender striker, Tshifhiwa Ramatsea, headed home after a free kick taken by Duncan Managa. Marula lost their original fighting spirit after the goal. Young Chiefs capitalized to score their second goal five minutes later. Duncan Managa, who scored a brace in the game, was on target after beating the offside trap. Marula started to play defensive football thereafter. Young Chiefs, however, managed to unlock their defence in the dying minutes of the last half. Managa received a neat pass from Nndateni Netshitadi and blasted in a rocket from close range. Marula effected two more changes to their starting 11 in the opening minutes of the last half. Young Chiefs missed a fortune in the 69th minute. They were awarded a penalty after Phumudzo Themeli was brought down within the box. Duncan Managa’s half-volley went straight into the keeper’s hands. The game turned lukewarm in the last 10 minutes.

Results

Magezi and Winners Park lead the ABC Bellevue Winners Park and Magezi FC are in two-horse race, following the results of the past weekend’s ABC Motsepe League matches. Magezi jumped from the second place to the top of the log, after beating the other league title chasers, Great North FC, 2-0 at the TT Cholo Stadium in Polokwane last Friday afternoon. Magezi are in a close race with Bellevue Winners Park, with 40 points each. Winners Park, who have been on top of the log for the past month, dropped two points last weekend when they drew 1-1 with Lephalale Young Killers at

the Nkowankowa Stadium. Great North FC remain in the third spot with 37 points, accumulated from 16 matches. Dynamos refused to donate points in front of their home crowd. They beat Modimolle Aces 3-0 at the Giyani Stadium. Aces are still to win a league match this season. They have played 16 matches to date and managed to play to a draw on two occasions only. They are lying in the second-last spot on the log. The Dolphins FC gave Mighty FC a run for their money at the Eldorado Stadium. Although Mighty FC were the first to score, their fighting spirit vanished with

time and, in the end, they lost the match 1-2. Bilika All Stars have reason to press the panic button. They could not contain Winners Park and were defeated 1-2 at the Giyani Stadium. The newly promoted A1 Terrors were pushed deeper into the relegation quagmire by their neighbours, Mosesetjane All Stars. A1 Terrors did hit the back of the net, while All Stars scored two beautiful goals at the Mahwelereng Stadium in Mokopane. Polokwane United gave away points to Giyani Hotspurs, to whom they lost 1-2 at the TT Cholo Stadium in Polokwane.
