What Does Ministry Mean to Me?

To me, ministry is my life. Ministry is my calling, my very being. Ministry allows me to be the contribution to the world that God created me to be. It allows me to move in my purpose and serve God's people in any way He desires. Ministry encompasses all my dreams, hopes, desires and plans. It allows me to be "me" in any venue, at any time, any day. It is my passion, my purpose, my love and a major part of my destiny. Ministry does not feel like work to me. It is something I enjoy. It gives me life every time I serve God's people and see God working through me. I yield this vessel to the Creator and I say, Father, use me in whatever capacity you choose, and I am grateful in every area that He uses me and grateful that He chosen me. I am especially grateful to Master Prophet and Pastor/Prophetess Debra Jordan, who have opened my eyes to the many facets of ministry that God has placed within me, and giving me the opportunity and trusting me to serve alongside them. They are a major part of my spiritual development and I am forever indebted to their teaching and their prophetic voice in my life and my family's lives. I have come to learn that ministry is my destiny.

When I think of "ministry", the first scripture that comes to my mind is Acts 6:1-3, where the first "deacons" were tasked to ensure the widows received food each day so the apostles could have uninterrupted time to prayer and the teaching and preaching of the Word (often referred to as "ministry of the Word"). I further think of the scripture in Matthew 20:26-28, which emphasizes that if one wants to be great, s/he must be a servant to all, just as Jesus came to serve rather than to be served. All of us have gifts, talents, and life experiences, and have obtained skillsets that can be used in the Kingdom of God. Equally, we have the opportunity to pray for/with others and share the Word of God, even if it's not in the pulpit. As I reflect on the two aforementioned scriptures, I see that "ministry" is serving others both in sharing the Word of God and in deed. Ministry is helping others to discover practical solutions to whatever issue they are experiencing by using the Word of God, along with its principles, as well as our skillsets, abilities, etc. As we have compassion for people, we can employ true ministry.
