LOANS TO FEMALE OWNED COMPANIES DISBURSED

The Zimbabwe Women’s Microfinance Bank (ZWMB), disbursed loans. worth $224 552 647.

Facilitated the opening of 98 876 accounts between last year (2020) and this year (2022) so far to support female entrepreneurship, The bank, established in 2018 to support aspiring female entrepreneurs, wants to support women living in rural areas with limited access to conventional commercial banks.

They have been going around the country in each province to informwomen about a bank that supports thefinancial needs of their small sole trader projects and businesses.

They have been working hand diligently with the Ministry of Women Affairs.In a speech at one of the ZWMB eventsin partnership with the Women’s Affairs, Small and Medium EnterprisesDevelopment Minister; Sithembiso Nyoni said “the bank disbursed $224,5million to support financial inclusionand entrepreneurship among women “.The Zimbabwe Women Microfinance Bank has performed exceptionallywell since its establishment.The bank has become a vital conduit in promoting financial inclusion andentrepreneurship for women through the opening of bankingaccounts and facilitating theprovision of business loans,” she said.

As a result of the loans, the ZWMB created 123 019 jobs and sustained153 771 jobs.The revelation by Nyoni comes over a month after the bank’s chiefexecutive officer, Dr. Mandas Marikanda revealed that demand forloans to female-led companies wasrobust, with many potential recipients currently financiallyexcluded

MSMEs need to improve on businessmanagement skills and relationships with their bankers in order to takeadvantage of the Funding initiativesthat are available for the marginalised groups from the Zimbabwe Women'sMicrofinance Bank. Dr. Marikanda, theCEO of Women's Bank presented the products that are available for Womenand young people to enable them toset up sustainable businesses andbetter participate in their respective value chains.
