How to create a size range Preparation
Decide on the name of each of your sizes. This can be anything you require but there are industry standards that are best followed. Decide on the base size of the range. This will be displayed in white in the size range text box, and also be the size of the pattern displayed on screen when the model is opened. The graded nest, once the pattern has been graded, will display each size outline in the same colour as the corresponding number in the size range. Size 6 will be displayed in yellow, size 8 in green etc. (see Fig. 11.2).
11.2 Display of a size range
Decide on the name of the grouping. This is the file name so it needs to be something easily identifiable. Figure 11.3 shows some examples of size range names. There are a number of ways to create size files, so if you find that one method does not suit your computer system, try an alternative method. I have found that with computer upgrades sometimes the old method no longer works. One method is to create and name the file before it has any information contained within it. To do this, open Windows Explorer, and locate your size range folder. Right click anywhere on the right-hand side and go to new and then text document. Now save as and give the file the name you require, completing the field with the file extension .eva or .evn as appropriate. This action will happen in Notepad or Wordpad, which will probably want to give a .txt file extension. Lectra assure me this is OK, but that there must also be the .eva or .evn in the file name as well. Close Windows Explorer. Go to Start – Programs – notepad or wordpad and open the newly created file, then follow the instructions as shown in Section 11.3.2 and Section 11.3.3. A second method is to save the files after entering the size range information as explained in Section 11.3.2 and Section 11.3.3.
