Project Description Key Word: Urban design, Community for the older, Ecological Architecture Based on the research and planning of the North Reservoir Area in Yunnan Dali, we find that there are lack of public space in Dali Ancient Town especially in the site of our design and the local residents have strong demand of improving the public space environment as well as the community facilities. I choose a significant spatial nodes as the community center suitable for the aged and the function of this center is for community organization & Service. From the views of local people, I rebuild and expand the old building by utilizing modern landscape architecture style to create a semi-outer public space. I explore how to design architecture with the universal memory and the spirit of place. Meanwhile, I emphasis on the design to ensure the elderly easy to use. Hope to provide a public space of secular life for anyone living in Dali Ancient Town. We drop in from door to door in the alleys We can still hear the TV sound and smell the food A sweet scent? An underwater sound? ( or the kid’s play ) A draught ? A scentor sound may evoke a distant episode of our memory Those memories must always be permanent mark Children grow up together with the tree Who else will realize that there are so much beautiful moment in our life When every inhabitant can enjoy their life freely without noticing This is real public space that we can enjoy together from generation to generation We should open up Let us experience the natural in Dali The crystal waters of Erhai Lake and the snow mantled Cangshan Mount radiate with each other Enjoy the scenery of lakes and hills early or late in the day A large amount of semi-natural settings motivate us to go out of the room In appreciation of nature which is still clean in Dali The opportunity that we can relate the land and sky To find what we really miss and something with good quality

Strategy of planning and design

The exploration of the context

a. Reservoir - Farmland - Residential area: Demolishes the existing "eye of the Dali " and Restore the ecological wetland landscape and the farmland landscape

a.Government: We focus the protection of the historical and cultural city during developing tourism business,and look for protective exploiting model. In order to expand public space, the reservoir in Dali will be designed to become the ecological wetland. 环城策略

b. Local residents( native or immigrant): The local residents have strong demand of improving the public space environment as well as the community facilities .The neighborhood committee organizes residents to build community facilities and reconstructed houses.

b.Ancient city wall: Repair part of the wall to strengthen spatial memory

c. Tourist: To enjoy the slow life in Dali old city.

STEP 1 Based on the research and planning, we choose a significant spatial nodes as the community center and leave room for square.

The majority of the people are the elderly(30%)

1. There are little public activity place for the elderly because most of the public space located in the commercial district have been occupied by the tourists in the ancient city. 2. Only in the street corner can you see the business-making elderly and there are no public space for them. 3. The existing house lack of barrier-free facilities are not suitable for the elderly.

In Dali Ancient Town, most of the public space occupied by the tourists are in the Fuxing Road which is oriented north-south. There are lack of public space provided daily communication for the local residents. Inside the base is the lack of public space.

STEP 2 We reserve ancient trees ,then rebuild and expand the old building with better quality , Remove the part of the dilapidated buildings.

From landscape architecture strategy, we rebuild and expand the old building by utilizing modern landscape architecture style to create a semi-outer public space. Meanwhile, this kind of design meets the region characteristic in Dali and it creates a new kind of building mode. As we known, Dali is 2090 meters above sea level where the sun is very strong. Wherever you are in the shade of the trees or in the colonnade, it offers a public area for communication of the local residents. A.In the old building elevatione:

STEP 3 Build a stage and endow it with a rich cultural connotation. Meanwhile, design a landmark in the two paths node.

Project Description Key Word: Environmental Reconstruction Design, the five senses, Community, campus The topic “meet” means that we feel keenly the world (including environment, society and people around us) through our vision, hearing ,smell ,touch and taste. We pick out the desolate “isolated islands” to be reformed by feeling surrounding environment and talking with local residents and combining with our experience. Design Strategy: By exciting the human five senses, we open a window to connect the individual "isolated island" with the public. In this way, people will be attracted, meet each other, and inspire infinite vitality.

1. What exist now? We find defects in the Practice Base when we first come to Danjiang with curiosity. There are several desolate places on campus. Near the Principal dormitory and Yingyuan fountain, young lover often went to there enjoying tranquility in the past. Now the place is empty. The shepherding grass is desolate due to the obstruction of trees and walls. A suspension bridge connecting campus and Jinji Mu community never be opened as a result of the contradictions between the developer and the school. People couldn’t overlook the scenic Guanyin Mountains since residential area and supporting facilities obscure their vision. The roads around campus are full of the roar of speeding vehicles, people often anxiously walk through in a hurry. …… As mentioned above , several places in the Practice Base are not used to the full for the public enjoyment. They look like desolate “isolated islands”. [ Site Analysis]

3. What is freedom You will never gain more than when opening your heart. Just keep feeling, communicating, listening and thinking, and there will always be surprise.

2) Auditory sense: a free land with more public space, where you can hear the most familiar voice

Imagine you are roaming in the school in a tranquil morning after a rain, breathing the air full of fragrance of fresh soil and grass, and walking through a wet gravel road in a jungle of lush banyan trees all over the school, with hanging branches and bared roots. Suddenly, a pool bursts into your view near the post office, and a squirrel jumps out of the grove.

Project Description Key Word: library design, spirit of place, culture From the angle of city renewal, we hope that the newly-built library can largely respect the site context and preserve the spatial memory to a greater extent. Therefore, we reserve the original building in the site and design a new white transparent BOX outside of the old building and select the light steel structure and modern wood structure as the support system. What we want is to design a special atmosphere for the reading environment. The library contains a quiet space, bathed in soft sunlight just as the forest, and gives people an open feeling. The compact cube architecture forms provide more freedom to the readers. The diversify media types in the library to adapt to the context of the information age.

is located at the junction of the northeast corner of Huinan Town and Zhuqiao Town in Shanghai Pudong District. The project site area is 6.67 hectares. Shanghai urban traffic problem was serious several years ago. The old Huinan Bus Parking and Maintenance 惠南公交停保场是上海市第一座新建新能源公交车停保场, Garage was located in Huinan Town Core area. Project Description Key Word: landscape, parking, public place The rebuilding project of Chuansha Square is located in Shanghai, Chuansha Town, Pudong District, and is next to the town government. The land area of Chuansha Square is about 1.22 hectares. There are many offices and business round Chuansha Square. But the facilities here are rather old, green are messy, and parking space are lack. Based on this, Chuansha Town government decides to rebuild Chuansha Square in order to create a public space for citizens to travel. After the rebuilding project is completed, the ground is green landscape, underground is a parking lot for 400 cars. Not only can improve the regional ecological environment, improve the image of the city, but also solve the parking problem.

世界红卍字会上海分会大楼,位于 中和邨 长乐路 272 弄中和邨 14-15 号,为中 中和邨 和邨内唯一的双拼里弄花园洋房,原高 (长乐路 272 弄中和邨) (长乐路 272平方米,呈折衷 弄中和邨) 度为 3 层,面积 1200 主义风格。建筑南侧自带 300 平方米花 高福里 园,花园两侧设副楼,南侧设围墙封闭, 高福里 同中和邨联排里弄相对分离。建筑分为 (长乐路 294 弄高福里) (长乐路 294 弄高福里) 前后两部分,后楼两侧层高略低。房屋 长乐路29 砖墙承重,承重墙体采用九五红砖和柴 泥砌筑而成。楼面为木楼面,木搁栅东 西向搁置在承重砖墙上。屋面为木屋架。 建筑的南立面为主立面。主立面为 横五段。明间设爱奥尼立柱宝瓶栏杆阳 台,次间设普通窗套,稍间设八角楼, 上部设八角小屋面,外立面为仿石材处 理处理。

高福里地块建于 20 世纪 20~30 年代,曾经是法租界内的高级住宅区,充分代表了上海传统里弄的风貌特征。高密度的居 住形式是地区发展的重要空间特色。经过百余年的历史变迁,周边城市空间发生较大的变化,地块内部肌理保存完整,体现了 地区以居住功能为主要特色的空间格局。

Key Word: Protect and Continue, Lanehouse style, Conservation Gaofu company obtained the land use right of Gaofuli land in 2003. When previous design was officially approved by the government and Gaofu company started the relocation work in 2005, Project stalled due to factors such as the doubling of relocation costs. In 2016, Gaofu company introduced new shareholders and project was restarted. However, it can not meet the land capacity requirement of the original control regulation and the transfer contract in the context of the new protection requirement of Historic heritage buildings. Therefore, Government approved on the proposal of extending the area of land to the east so as to achieve capacity transfer and balance. The new design strategy is to keep the height and texture of the buildings in the old area and build new high-rise residence in the new area to meet the land capacity.
