The grade II listed Shoreditch Tramshed building was originally built to house an electricity generator for the Tramway System. Movie Magic Eames: The Architect and the Painter is a new feature film exploring the fascinating lives of husband-and-wife team Charles and Ray Eames. Comprised of archive footage and interviews with friends and colleagues, the film is narrated by James Franco and investigates the history of the influential duo and their place in American industrial design.
It’s London Design Festival this month and SCP East are hosting the Design Department Store for the second year running. LUSTRE LIGHTS BY TOM DIXON Lustre Lights is the latest collection from London design and production company Tom Dixon. Famed for industrial lighting and furniture, the new pendant shades are characterised by a distinctive oil-slick sheen. The look was created by firing the stoneware shades at 1200°C using a topsecret glaze containing minerals and precious metals. Truly a work of art. tomdixon.net.
