FOODIE NOTES WONKA’S WORLD

Most people will have had their fi ll of chocolate after the Easter excess, but not Supperclub. Here, the whole place transforms into a sweet factory throughout April, with everything from a chocolate river to lick-able wallpaper and giant lollipops, putting Willy Wonka to shame. The menu will all be sweetie/chocolate themed, from chilli chocolate sauce with venison to a delicious chocolate fondant with oozing chocolate sauce coming from it. Plus, there’s entertainment including ariel acts, acrobats and supperclub very own chocolatiers. £49 for four courses. Supperclub, 12 Acklam Road W10, 020 8964 6600; supperclub.com

Hidden away off Scrubs Lane is Madame Gautier’s new La Technique cookery school, offering a range of specialist classes and courses. In April there are three-hour specialist courses in macaroons and petits fours, longer courses in butchery and breadmaking and lots more. 6 Enterprise Way, NW10, madamegautier.com/cookery-school

IN-FLIGHT GOURMETS New foodie supper club Mile High launched recently with its first event at a secret location (revealed to be Westbourne Grove’s old sorting office). The club takes inspiration from the golden age of 1950s air travel, inviting guests to check in with Pan-Am clad air hostesses before embarking on a cocktail-fuelled journey to a gastro destination. First stop was Gothenburg, with a four-course Swedish feast served up to the sounds of Swedish drinking songs. Behind all this is exMoro chef Ollie Templeton and his three siblings (recently dubbed the Von Trapps of the foodie world). Next up is Beirut and future destinations include Sicily and Mozambique. Keep those seatbelts fastened. Dinemilehigh.com

COCKTAIL MANSION

Just opened in Earl’s Court is the Mansion Bar and Parlour, stylishly themed around the converted Victorian mansion house that it once was. A cocktail menu features New York-inspired carbonated and molecular creations, while edibles include oysters, caviar and sharing platters. 33 Barkston Gardens, SW5; mansionbar.co.uk

TE A FOR T WO Holland Park-based independent tea brand We Are Tea is founded by tea-obsessed husband and wife team Spence and Suzy. ‘Life is too short to drink bad tea,’ they say – and their own independent range of whole-leaf tea bags is sourced from artisan producers and taste-tested to perfection. Flavours include Ceylon vanilla, Moroccan mint and Earl Grey supreme. You’ll find them at Harrods and Wholefoods. Wearetea.com 68
