Milliken & Urban Collective Collaboration Pioneers of ethical interiors Milliken have reason to feel a little smug, after being named one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies by the Ethisphere Institute for the sixth consecutive year. The latest addition to their extensive range of carpets, produced in collaboration with Urban Collective, incorporates the fractured elements and broken structures of a dilapidated cityscape. milliken.com
INTERIOR INSPIRATIONS Gemma Billington
rounds up the best of Clerkenwell Design Week 2012
Designer of the Month MAKEDA
After years of running her own fashion and jewellery store in Stockholm, designer Anna Forsberg combined her passion for textiles and graphic design and set up handmade rug company Makeda in 2009. The nature-inspired designs steer clear of ‘cute’ territory and their sheer scale make them, as was Forsberg’s intention, both a canvas and a piece of furniture. Anglepoise It was an extra special Clerkenwell Design Week for British lighting maestros Anglepoise, who celebrated 80 years in the industry by launching their new duo range. The collection integrates playful colour braided cables into their classic designs. The simple, practical form of the lamps make an industrial yet stylish statement. anglepoise.com
SHELLF
Italian innovators Kristalia commissioned designer Ka-Lai Chan, creator of SheLLf; arguably CDW’s standout piece. The striking shelving unit is now in mass production, but started life as a limited edition sculpture, inspired by an animal coming out of its shell. live.kristalia.it
