Sticky Note Wall of Appreciation

In honor of Veterans Day, the Social Studies Department has developed an activity to recognize our heroes. We plan to implement this plan during Star Hour (2nd hour) along with the Citizenship lesson. It requires minimal effort from teachers. 

During 1st hour we will be distributing a piece of butcher block paper, and sticky notes to each classroom. Teachers should have enough sticky notes for each student in the class. This can be done at either the beginning or the end of the lesson (it will take approximately 10 minutes).

1. Teacher will pass out one sticky note to each student. 2. Students will then write a message to veterans. Messages can include: -thanking veterans for their service -thanking the veteran for something the student might have or appreciate -what the student might appreciate about being an American -recognizing the qualities veterans possess (bravery, strong moral character, leadership, etc.) 3. Students will then place their sticky note (and message) on the sheet of butcher block paper. 4. Please make sure that the sticky notes are placed in a neat and orderly fashion. 5. We will come around later to collect the butcher block paper.
