Located on the Upper East side, the James Perse Flagship, is a building renovation that includes interiors as well as a complete removal of the existing facade. The three story - 4000 sf structure is conceived as a sectioned concrete monolith that communicates its content through two apertures that signal access to the building and the location of a series linking atriums.

FACADE DETAIL
Directly in the center of the Franz Joseph Airport, the second phase competition for the Munich Airport Quartier Süd, provides 30 000 m² of office area in close connection to all terminals. The building mass, consisting of two block rings perforated by a series of double height gardens, becomes unified by a representative central hall from which a string of courtyards connect. Atop theses volumes is a ‘flying-box’ with panoramic views of the airport-
scape, here conference rooms, restaurant and fitness center are located. Driving the design of the building is the need of highly flexible office-unit floor plans that maximize rentable property; all units are provided with direct access to vertical circulation, allowing them to function independently, all the while, a series of connecting bridges at each level strengthen communication, accommodating large scale tenants.

Two buildings are added to a existing development from the 1970s to form a superblock. The characteristic scale and proportion of the location are taken up and continued through the volumetry of the buildings; one, micro-apartments and the other, luxury residential. On the groundfloor two commercial spaces flank a shared lobby for both structures. The residential portion of the proposal contains close to 90 apartments of varying sizes and have acces to a series of ammenities such as sauna, gym and
meeting rooms, located on the first and second floor. The Micro-apartment building houses ca. 100 units intended for both students and buissness people. In accordance with the caharacter of its surroindings, the facade is envisioned as a traditional grid with a series of curved and angled inserts. These elements create a rhythmic sequence of depths and shadows that are amplified by the growing witdths of the fenestration as they reach the upper levels.

The completed housing project in the outskirts of Munich follows conscious efforts by the city’s Design Commission of promoting forward-thinking architecture proposals that counterbalance the conservative views and approach that have heavily influenced its architecture. Based on a block typology, four almost identical buildings are grouped around a courtyard. The slanting green roofs dominate the appearance of the residential building as the fifth façade while they maximize daylight penetration. South and west facing loggias and balconies are provided for each of the 140 apartments. weit wirkender Hof

Weilheim, a small Bavarian town to the south of Munich, issued a competition for the design of the city’s Public Service Facilities to be located in what is planned as the new entrance to the city center. Situated amongst open fields and traditional farm structures, the proposed design derives its formal vocabulary from its context as a conceptual interpretation of the surrounding typologies. Three folding roof structures enveloped in a vertical+horizontal skin of corten-steel louvers establish a dialog with the local architecture with the intention of maintaining and respecting the character of the area. The composition of these independent volumes, responds to the functionality of a program that is divided in three categories: customer service + workshop areas, management + storage facilities and a garage + heavy equipment area. These must remain independent while in communication with one another. The negative space between the volumes links all zones and provides a plaza with highly functional circulation. Maximizing the efficiency of the design, parameters for rain water collection and solar panels were taken into account in the articulation of the angles for the roof structures.

PATH TO CONGREGATION CELLS
In the early 1900’s, philosopher Edmund Husserl became known as the father of phenomenology. Following, scholars like Heidegger and Merleau-Ponty continued the development of phenomenological thoughts and ideas, concepts that have permeated and influenced architecture. The thesis project emerges as an exploration of phenomenological ideas through architectural expression. The Academy for Phenomenological Studies is located on one of the islands that lay in the Isar River in Munich, Germany; the site condition allows for a dislocated relationship to the city, providing a space where phenomena can both manifest itself and be studied.
PATH TO ISOLATION CELLS
cular bars become a threshold between land and water, while a series of isolation cells project from a structural wall providing a space for the mental concentration of a phenomena. Here, a reflective sound shaft, drowns the cell with the sound of rushing the water that sits bellow. A series of congregation cells to the eastern side, allow similar manifestations at different levels of intimacy.
Rhythm and scale regulate the spatial compositions. A prominent part of the design and the phenomenological approach is the water surface; this western sequence of tilted bars directly interact with the waters of the Isar, consequently transforming and evolving through Phenomenology studies that which is essential to a phenomena; this is seasonal, erosion and atmosphere variations. White concrete surexplored architecturally through a tunnel that cuts along the site, con- faces appear to transform with its surroundings emphasizing dimenfronting oneself with the essence of the island. Similarly, three perpendi- sions of shadows and light.
