about Design Design Learning I majored in industrial design, have been practicing various design issues such as home appliances, elderly care, and future gadgets. However, I've always been interested in graphic design field. I was the chief editor of the graduation project, in charge of the entire visual identity as well as layout and package design. Thus I decided to pursue a master's degree in commercial design as a new start to discover more of myself. Recently I have been participating in a few design workshops, hoping to broaden my learning experiences.

07

Design Working I had been working at biaugust Creation Office, a design studio founded by two Japan-educated directors who are passionate about creating. I always enjoy exploring meanings and thoughts hidden in their work. Although originally launched as a graphic design studio, our projects vary from product design, lifestyle accessories, to even installation arts. I was delighted to participate in all of these and to understand more about practical aspects of design process. It was a truly unforgettable experience. Currently I do freelancing jobs aside from school, taking every chance to make my clients see the value of design and to establish connections. My goal is to start my own design studio one day.

Apar t from Design I enjoy going to exhibitions, movies, or concerts. Those activities benefit my design work all the time. I love traveling as well, have been to Japan and Shanghai. It fascinates me how different cultures interpret design and aesthetics, all rendered on a piece of printed matter. In the future, I expect to study or work abroad, explore more possibility and diversity in design through the foreign experiences.

Yodex Exhibition Print When looked from a distance, they seem like parted lips ready to say something; but if you take a closer look, they are actually a pair of firm hands. Near and far, the differences exist between distances. We do not design only by speaking with our mouth. If you approach it, look at it, and feel it, you will realise the true meanings of design and see the pair of hands that never stops working to the goal. The cover is designed by using plastic embossing production method to increase its visual and touch effects, which gives viewers a strong visual impact directly from the pair of hands bursting out from the cover such as indicating reality. The bright magenta colour represents the external stimulation to our senses and the curious hearts. This is our graduate image design a pause to our studies, a pass to our future.

Book Cover Design 1 A book written with the lifelong experience of the Yamakawas from Japan;A book about destined lives, surrounded with love and fate, as illustrated in the cover design.“It is destined to meet you in this life, to create the life blueprint with angel in your mind. The visual design is based on and expanded from the two red umbrellas of lovers. In Japan, red umbrella represents luck and happiness; it is usually used as the metaphor of love in many dramas. The space where the two umbrellas overlapped is to provide the readers an unlimited imagination. The vertical layout of characters as well as the falling feather represents raindrops; the colour baby pink symbolises the soft touch of the angle’s skin.

The Nonlife Zoo This series of t-shirts is from "Biaugust" in cooperation with "NET", and I also participated in these t-shirts' graphic designs. "The Nonlife Zoo" animals are based on human form with standing position. The human gesture is the metaphor for animals’ tragic extinction that caused by humans. it also represents the soul of dead animals. It is even an ironic insinuation of human behavior that leads humans to their own destruction. The face of skull represents the frustration, anger and death ! Biaugust are trying to use these visual links to a clear expression, that is, human beings will be facing extinction if they no longer cherish the existing environment and coexist with nature and animals.

Clothing Frame "Clothing Frame" subverts traditional large closet which is heavy and takes up space and changes our patterns of use for clothing furniture. We use modularized design to divide the items in the closet. Users can combine the size and color they like and expand the closet. The horizontal space on the wall that can be expanded is used to create a personalized "Clothing Frame." In terms of the external appearance, the concept of wall decoration is included in the design. "Clothing Frame" looks like many square frames in different sizes. It shows the pattern and style of each different clothes, which is like painting, and adds the fun to clothing furniture other than storing. The ways of using "Clothing Frame" is closely related to the characteristic of its material. Users only have to lightly push the cover and take out what is needed. It gives the user a new experience. Initial Idea We tried to think of other possibility of closets. So the concept is directed to considering both a humorous and interesting function and a practical use of the product. In terms of the practical use, we hoped to put in the ideas of being able to expand the items, enhancing personal exclusiveness and allowing DIY assembling. In terms of the space application, the empty space on the wall is used while including the concept of decoration, the stationery clothes and closet give people the image of frames and paintings.

These items need a place to stay and keep dry in order to avoid bad smells and bacteria, also neatly instead of being scattered around and forgotten. There should be a nice place for them to air dry and wait for another departure. A root-looking inner layer is added to the package of personal hygiene kits. After turning the outer one, the inner layer becomes a space for the items to air dry. The items can stand upright when placed into the holes of the silica gel. Instead of using technology, WATER+ applies the simplest concept that “medicine must be taken with water so even the elderly with poor memory could remember to take their medicine on time using WATER+. The interior material of the bottle is nano-anti-bacteria paint, which is hygienic and easy to clean. On top of the bottle, the embedded hidden drug box gives easy access to the elderly who need to take medicine outdoor, without other people starring at them. The exterior material of the bottle is soft rubber, which is easy to handle and anti-slip, with many different colours to choose from, so the users can identify their very own WATER+ easily.

Faraway Friends Idea of faraway friend is based on time difference problem international friends have. We supposed it to be a really easy way to chat through such as international tool like Facebook, but in fact it occured to be very hard. While one found time and needed to chat to the other, the second one was sleeping. Time shift became our enemy. If we manged to catch each other sitting behind computer, we always beggined with these questions “Hi! What time is there now? When will you go sleeping?” Interest in ubiquitous cute Taiwanese cartoons and figures set this idea about making a gift for a friend that will let him know, what time it is in our country. A figure with turning head showing his day and night period. This manufactured product is customizable, so you easily can make figure of yourself to pleasure your foreign friends.
