A Theatre for Everyone
The new-look theatre now has a lift to the dress circle and main theatre bar, more wheelchair spaces, accessible doors, additional toilets, baby-changing facilities, children’s meal options and a buggy park. In this brochure, you’ll find details about relaxed, captioned, British Sign Language-interpreted and audio-described performances, with accompanying touch tours. Let us know if there’s anything we can do to make your theatre trip more enjoyable and stressfree, including help from a dedicated member of our team, access to a quiet space, a venue map, use of our dog-sitting service or ear defenders for a performance. NEW Relaxed Performances are designed to welcome anyone who might be anxious about attending the theatre. Traditionally this has included people with an autism spectrum disorder, sensory and communication disorders or a learning disability. We make small changes to the lighting and there is a relaxed attitude to noise and movement. We have breakout areas you can use during the performance and we can provide a visual guide to the theatre to help you find your way around, making it an inclusive, enjoyable experience for all.
Jorvik: Life and Death Exhibition in the Keregan Room 11am–5pm (Mon), 11am–6pm (Tue–Sat) Free Entry We are delighted to be hosting an intriguing exhibition by JORVIK Viking Centre that explores the practices of those involved in providing care and remedies in the Viking period and the years that followed. Spend a truly cultural evening visiting the exhibition, eating a great supper and enjoying a show. Stepping into the Keregan Room really is like travelling back in time. The room is a 12th-century undercroft and we have exciting plans to turn it into our own heritage centre to tell the amazing story of our building and the history of theatre.
