PASKEVILLE Football and Netball Clubs Pasky hopes to go all the way With five teams in finals last year, Paskeville is hoping to build on this in 2016. “We were extremely competitive in all senior grades last season and had a strong finals campaign with all senior teams and our G grade making finals,” president Sally-Anne Heinrich said. “Unfortunately none of the teams made an appearance on grand final day so we’re looking forward to going one step further this year.” Paskeville had a healthy number registrations this season, with some new faces and some players returning after pregnancy, which the club is happy to welcome back. “We started preseason training early February and training has been in full swing for a few weeks now,” Heinrich said. “We’ve had a great turnout to all sessions. “Nikki Crickmay has been managing the fitness and Fiona Bussenschutt the netball sessions, both have a great level of knowledge in each field and our players will benefit immensely with their guidance.” Heinrich said the club is lucky to have a great bunch of juniors with supportive parents ready to help out. “They are enthusiastic and excited to play netball for Pasky!” she said. “We look forward to a big year of watching them develop their skills and teamwork.” Off the court, the netball club is working with the football club on its goods and services auction. It is also planning clinics with specialist coaches and a trip to see the Thunderbirds play during the season. Paskeville is in the process of getting new uniforms for next season, with merchandise director Meg Wilksch working tirelessly with the committee to get it in motion.

With A grade coach Shaun Glacken How has your preseason been? The boys went for a few runs before Christmas then we started training twice a week in early January. Numbers have been down on previous seasons but the past few weeks have been good. Who are the young players to watch? Jordan Bruce, Alistair Price, Hamish Price, Corey Price, Jack Davies. Which players could take their games to the next level? Michael Daniel, Brodie Paige, Jono Price, Ashley Bruce. What are the club’s aims this year? To be competitive and consistent. What else is there to look forward to? The social committee is organising a range of entertaining nights for everyone to enjoy throughout the season. This will include a hilarious evening with a hypnotist as well as a major ‘frat party’. We will also hold our biennial rump and red this year. Predict the top three sides at the end of the minor round: Moonta, Kadina, Paskeville. Predict the top three in the Mail Medal: Chad Norsworthy, Moonta; Brodie Paige, Paskeville; James Watt, Paskeville.
STEPPING UP... The dual premier has lost some key players but is hoping its experienced youngsters, such as Ashley Bruce, will take their games to another level.
COURTSIDE with A grade coach Fiona Bussenschutt A grade team to beat in 2016 and why? The Crows will be tough and determined after just missing out last year and Moonta has collected an impressive list of players. A grade dark horse team and why? If the Southern Eagles girls continue their improvement from last year, they will be a tough team to beat. A grade player losses and gains? We have retained the majority of our player list and have Jade Daniel and myself returning for full seasons this year. Up-and-coming junior players at your club and why? Our G grade is full of players to watch in years to come! It’s lovely as a club to help nurture these young netballers as they continue to learn and improve.
