KADINA Football and Netball Clubs Kadina competitive again in 2016
COURTSIDE with A/B grade coach Natasha Westbrook A grade team to beat in 2016 and why? Pasky and Crows always manage to put together strong teams. A grade dark horse team and why? Possibly Moonta, I know Kara Madden has returned for them as well as Tamara Lodge and Adele Keleher playing on — all three are very strong players. A grade player losses and gains? Unfortunately we have had two big losses from our A grade in Erin Scott and Emma Byrne. Both these girls played in our defensive circle last year. But we have picked up some great goalies in Prue Hicks and Jessie Miller, who has returned from playing in Adelaide. Emma Borlace is also new to our squad and will add some much-needed height. Up-and-coming junior players at your club and why? Teesha Angus had her first season in A grade last year and impressed me with her athleticism and willingness to learn. She grew in confidence and skill and I think she will continue to do that this year. She will have a big role to play in our defence. Emma Borlace is on board with us this year. I haven’t seen her play much but am impressed by what I have seen so far. She is a very versatile player and her athleticism and game sense will make her a strong A grade player.

Strong preseason With A grade coach Daniel Flowers How has your preseason been? Preseason training started in mid-January with about 40 players attending. We have had good numbers right through the preseason. It’s been a solid 10 weeks so far and we are pleased with the level of fitness throughout all grades. Who are the young players to watch? Our club has some great young footballers coming through this year with six coming up from senior colts. Bailey Turner and Jason Fagg have both had good preseasons as have Mitch Moyle and Cal Hibbard. Which players could take their games to the next level? Lachie Glazbrook looks fitter and stronger this year. Having said that, I would like to see all of the senior players push themselves to the next level. What are the club’s aims this year? The club aims to play consistent football through all grades and push to again make finals. What else is there to look forward to? We have a new social committee this year with Adam May at the helm. There will be the Bloodhound Ball and the Bloodlow with
CEMENTING HER SPOT... After debuting in A grade last season, Teesha Angus gained valuable experience which will cement her spot in the side this year.
Good luck to all clubs for the 2016 season
STILL STRONG... Daniel Toole and the Kadina Bloodhounds will again have a strong team despite losing many players from last year’s grand final side.

The 2015 season was a big one for Kadina Netball Club and it’s hoping for another strong year. “We started the 2015 season in our new uniforms, thanks to our major sponsors Subway, North Beach Tourist Park and Sportspower Kadina,” president Carolyn Neumann said. “We must also thank Telstra Store Kadina for its generous donation of new netballs.” Kadina fielded teams in all grades and the girls put in a solid effort all season with A, B, E and F grades making finals. “Our little H graders won the end-of-season carnival which was a great way to top off their fantastic year,” Neumann said. “We had Sophie Adams, Lily Neumann, Teesha Angus and Erin Scott represent us at association level, with Erin also playing in the state 17 and under team.” Kadina was also very successful in the YPNA vote count with best and fairest going to Sophie Chapman (A grade), Carolyn Neumann (B grade) and Lily Neumann (E grade). The club had 80 player registrations for 2016, with trials held in February. “Seniors have been training for the past few weeks, and all teams look to be very competitive,” Neumann said. “Although the junior teams will be young, we have a great group of girls and I look forward to seeing what they have instore for us.” The club is in the process of planning and relocating its netball courts, which it hopes will be ready for season 2017.
