Rudolph’s big night out

The Humane Society of Sarasota County held its annual “Hot Dogs and Cool Cats” fundraiser Dec. 3, at the Sarasota Yacht Club for the first time, and 250 guests got to enjoy the venue in full Christmas mufti. One star of the program was Dr. Kevin Fitzgerald, of Animal Planet’s “Emergency Vets.” He not only shared war stories but dropped his drawers to reveal his dance pants and entertained the audience with a little holiday gigue.

Even with his entertaining antics, he had tough competition from Rudolph, a beautiful black lab-mix puppy that was sold via auction. Jeff Roberti bought him for $1,700 as a gift for lucky Ron and Kim Soto. HSSC, the area’s largest no-kill shelter, is in the middle of its annual Iams-sponsored “Home for the Holiday” promotion, something to consider if a pet is on your gift list.
