Students at Phillippi Shores Elementary had a far-out time at the school’s ’60s Day Friday, Feb. 4. Students, teachers and parents all donned their grooviest ’60s fashions and enjoyed a day full of tie-dying, face painting and retro games, including Twister. The celebration was part of the school’s quarterly celebration for students who have exhibited positive behavior and academic achievement. Art a la Carte hosted its grand opening Friday, Feb. 4, at Art Center Sarasota. Local artists Sue Kutno and Jo Sprung based the idea of the business on the
concept of “artists promoting artists.” The grand-opening exhibit featured works of art by 11 local artists who work in every type of medium; oil paintings, costume jewelry and hand-painted scarves and tunics were all on display.
