Memorial Day Celebrated

Memorial Day honors those that lost their lives while in the military service. It is traditiional to fly the American flag at haft mast. Many people visit nattional cemeteries where volunteers will place the American flag on each grave. In Bellmore and Merrick there were parades and memorial services in honor of those who died in service to their country. Community members gathered along both sides of Merrick Avenue in Merrick and Bedford Avenue in Bellmore cheering and waving flags as the parade participants passed by.
