A traditional pub in a beautiful village Visit the Four Horseshoes at Thornham Magna.
Said to be the oldest pub in Suffolk, The Four Horseshoes is situated in the picturesque village of Thornham Magna, a mile off the A140. With its pretty pink façade and thatched roof, this 12th century pub is about as traditionally English as cups of tea and cricket. They offer good food and comfortable accommodation as well as being the ideal venue for meetings, functions and parties.
As we waited, we took a seat next to a lovely open log fire. The walls of the bar are decorated with funny quotes about wine including, ‘Wine improves with age, the older I get the more I like it!’ For our meal we were seated at a cosy round table in the busy restaurant. There was a choice of 11 starters and we went for Tender Chicken, Prawn Cocktail, Chef ’s Homemade Crab Cakes and Horseshoe Mushroooms. They were all nicely presented and very tasty. GENERALLY SATISFACTORY
bit undercooked for our taste but everything else was great. For dessert we had Homemade Chocolate Brownie, Horseshoe Mess, Sticky Toffee Pudding and Warm Cinnamon Doughnuts. The Toffee Pudding was declared the best in the world! The Four Horseshoes really is a lovely pub.
