Musical Motion Fancy getting fit and feisty? Want to throw some moves and learn some grooves? Emily, a graduate in Contemporary Dance and Performance Art, is on a mission to get York’s residents moving – and she’s got the right music to match! She’s opening new Zumba classes at the Upstage Centre in Monkgate, and she’s calling out for men and women who’d like to express themselves, lose weight, and have fun in the name of fitness. Classes take place in the evenings, and the first session is free! n For more information call Emily on 07821 902702 or visit www.emergedance.co.uk
Reach Your Peak You’ve got to hand it to the security team at York Hospital. They’re about to tackle the three-peaks challenge – not once, but twice. As a ‘warm-up’, the four will climb the Yorkshire three-peaks and aim to complete the 25-mile route in under 12 hours on 24th March. Then, on 13th April, the team aim to finish the national three-peaks challenge in under 24 hours. That’ll include Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdonia. Are they mad? Maybe, but they’re caring too –money raised will go towards funding a new garden and courtyard area at the York Cancer Care Centre that will provide a relaxing environment for anyone affected by cancer. n To sponsor the team, call 721737 or visit www.justgiving.com/ challenges4cancer and follow the team’s progress on Facebook by joining the ‘challenges for cancer’ group
