Young Living Australia staff look back over this year’s Convention

Young Living’s International Grand Convention 2010 was by far our most successful Convention yet! Founder Gary Young captivated thousands with the ancient secrets and power of frankincense as he chronicled his own incredible journey along the frankincense trail. For those of you who couldn’t make it, here is your opportunity to read about what Convention had to offer. To truly know what Convention is you have to be there. The atmosphere is unlike anything you would have experienced before. We walked through the doors and entered a room big enough to fit over 5,000 people. The stage was set to resemble Oman, complete with sand dunes and desert sky. The doors opened and in rushed all 5,000 people at once, scrambling to get the best seats. Our Australasian crowd was in excess of 60—three times the number of last year’s turnout! It wasn’t too much longer and Gary appeared on his horse, riding through the crowd before leading his wife Mary and their two sons Jacob and Josef on stage by camel. What a grand start to a grand Convention! Gary went into detail about his trek through the Middle East in search of frankincense. Narrowly avoiding danger, Gary found what he was
searching for: Boswellia sacra, ‘sacred frankincense’, which was believed to be the frankincense gifted to Jesus at His birth. Gary plans on giving us the same gift with his newest frankincense product, Sacred Frankincense essential oil, which, when used in conjunction with Young Living’s existing frankincense essential oil, can deepen and strengthen spiritual connection with the source. We were lucky enough to attend the world-premiere of Gary’s documentary The One Gift. This full-length feature film uncovered the history of frankincense, its traditional uses, and modern-day implications. Overall, it was a great film full of comprehensive information. The educational opportunities at Convention were abundant. Twenty-eight individual breakout sessions on various topics were run for our members to attend as they wished. One of our newest Platinum members, Mark Sheppard, presented his own breakout session—it was tough getting a seat in this packed room! A very special occasion was the D. Gary Young Foundation Dinner and Auction, where all proceeds went directly to the D. Gary Young Foundation in support of the children in Ecuador. A number of items were auctioned off for charity, including an Australian didgeridoo (much to the novelty of many American guests), which sold for the price of $1,300. Special mention goes to Cath Garro, a Silver member from Victoria, whose $5,900 bid won her a very special conference call with Gary Young himself. We are excited and inspired to see what exciting new discoveries next year’s Convention will bring. We are even more excited about our own Australian Regional Convention 2011 when we will have the opportunity to share with many more of our Australasian members. We look forward to seeing you there! This year’s International Grand Convention in Salt Lake City was a memorable experience for all who attended. There were many surprises including Gary’s new documentary, The One Gift, which provided an insight into the hardships faced by many to discover and transport frankincense to those who needed it. In addition to this, Gary also wrote a fictional novel to accompany the documentary that detailed these expeditions. But, we weren’t the only ones to benefit from the many surprises that the convention provided. Mary also gave Gary an inspirational gift… the One Gift essential oil blend consisting of the 12 oils of Ancient scripture mentioned in the Bible. This blend was Mary’s dedication to honour all the hard work and time Gary put into researching, filming, and writing about the Frankincense Trail. In the last week of July, we embarked on a successful postconvention tour, bringing to Australia some of the wonderful discoveries and messages from the International Grand Convention.
