Young Living’s equine ambassadors fulfill a 20-year dream

A MESSAGE FROM MARY GARY'S PERCHERONS BECOME WORLD CHAMPIONS

To My Young Living Family, The holiday season means different things to different people. It may be a time of celebration, fun, gifts, and both happy and sad memories as we reflect on the past year. We shower each other with perhaps too many gifts, attend the parties, and excitedly anticipate the new year. But what does this season really mean to each of us, and how does your heart respond? Gary and I have always been filled with gratitude for so much in our lives and the abundance that has come to us. We feel that gratitude is something we should express every day in our words and actions. Because we both grew up in humble circumstances— Gary in particular—it was always easy for us to feel grateful for what we had, including for our blessings of growing an opportunity. Gary gave everything to better mankind, and thousands are reaping the benefits of our tiny beginning that has grown into a global force for good. So many of us are experiencing a lifestyle of health and abundance, but with that comes a responsibility to show our gratitude by helping others in need, showing them a better way, and sharing Young Living. Gary always talked about what he wanted to see within Young Living from those experiencing abundance—and for many, a life they could never have imagined. I want to express my gratitude to our thousands of members who are doing exactly what we had hoped for with their abundance. Members everywhere are volunteering their time, skills, and financial means to help. I know if Gary were here, he would express those same feelings of deep gratitude to all of you. We continue to grow as a force of strength for the well-being of our fellowmen, and because of that, our abundance will continue to grow and more lives will be changed as people are given the opportunity to reach their highest potential. Remember, one of the rewards of gratitude is the joy of self-fulfillment available to those who honor their responsibility to help others in need. May God bless us all as we celebrate this holiday season and the new year, continuing to share our mission, our oils, and that with which we have been blessed with God’s children everywhere. With love and gratitude,

As with every other dream he chased in his life, Young Living Founder D. Gary Young found success through hard work, relentless passion, and brilliant partners. After 20 years of dreaming, Gary’s team of prized Percheron horses swept in three elite categories at the 17th World Percheron Congress in Des Moines, Iowa, on October 13. What started as a love for gentle yet powerful horses turned into a commitment to compete with the best. Jason Goodman, Young Living’s overall program and draft horse manager, understood how important the World Percheron Congress was to Gary. “These horses tie into Gary’s passion for quality—quality for products, quality for horses. Anything he did, he wanted it to be the best,” Jason said. The World Percheron Congress—held every four years and referred to as the Olympics of the Percheron world—awarded the Young Living Percherons the Premier Exhibitor and named them the best team overall. Connie’s Tradition, or “Ace” as the team lovingly refers to him, took second out of 750 horses in the Supreme Champion Class after he won the title of World Champion Gelding. Our team of mighty Percherons also took home the title of World Champion in the eight-horse hitch; the sixhorse hitch, the most competitive class in the draft horse industry; and the Unicorn, a three-horse hitch. purple of Young Living shined on the horses’ wagon as they took their victory lap. As they compete in various shows, each horse in the Young Living team must perform at top levels under intense pressure. As our equine ambassadors, the Young Living Percherons represent a powerful message that highlights this company’s commitment to providing highquality products. The driver and horses thrive thanks to intense training, deep connection with their trainers, and Young Living essential oils. Tim Sparrow, Percheron show team manager and driver, was nearly speechless when asked how it felt to win; but just like Gary, he knew how they achieved this moment. Tim said, “Winning is the culmination of a lot of hard work.” Many dreams came true in October. Over the years Mark Harris, corporate pilot and VP of Global Farms, flew Gary to countless draft horse shows and worked with him to bring a team of Percherons to to this, the holy grail of Percheron competitions. Mark knows how proud Gary would be of this moment. Mary Young, co-founder and CEO, agrees. “For many years Gary dreamed of having his show horses entered in the World Percheron Congress. Every time he saw the horses perform, he would make that comment. His dream came true this year as Tim Sparrow took our hitches to the top when our teams took first place.” The Young Living Percheron team shows the dedication that Gary lent to every one of his passions and mirrors how hard work and unwavering pursuit made Young Living into a global leader of health, wellness, and abundance. Check out articles in Grow! and on Facebook for more details! At the 2018 International Grand Convention, members raised more than $1 million in support of Hope for Justice, an organization dedicated to ending modern slavery. This outpouring of support had a powerful impact, including the expansion of Hope for Justice’s Shine Career School in Cambodia, where rescued girls receive education and vocational training. The impact of this donation was made manifest during the Cambodia service trip, when Young Living members and students at the Shine Career School shared in an unforgettable moment. Members watched on as students took a sledgehammer to concrete, ultimately tearing down the wall that will become the gateway to the school’s new expansion. “It was such a beautiful moment for the girls, the staff, and the teachers. I felt like it was a wall of Jericho that they were breaking down, and there was almost like a promised land on the other side,” said Royal Crown Diamond April Pointer. The upgrade will create more space for yoga and exercise, an art room, and a library. It will also serve as a community center for past and current students. “There was a strong sense that through the shared experience of empowerment and moving forward, they

GATHERING TO NURTURE THE SEEDS OF SUCCESS Take a look inside the first annual Global Farms Management Conference

This October the Skyrider Wilderness Ranch and Young Living Global Headquarters hosted representatives from our corporate-owned farms as they gathered for the first annual Global Farms Management Conference. Over four days attendees took a deep dive into global farms, as well as our Seed to Seal® quality commitment. They learned about scientific advancements in oil yield and harvest practices and received training from other Young Living teams, including the D. Gary Young Research Institute, Compliance, and Sourcing. They also developed plans for upcoming projects that will help make Young Living’s goals a reality. For a look inside the conference, we spoke with four attendees: Marc Lowe from Young Living’s Global Farms team; Nicolos Chong, farm manager from the Finca Botanica Farm and Distillery; Kevin Sagers, farm manager at the St. Maries Lavender Farm and Distillery; and Brett Packer, farm manager at the Highland Flats Tree Farm and Distillery. Q: How did the conference benefit Young Living and the attendees? Brett Packer: The farm conference was tremendously unifying. The support and appreciation from corporate were a huge morale boost and reinforced how important farms are to our unique culture at Young Living.

Kevin Sagers: We had the opportunity to share ideas with other farm managers and talk with our corporate team to learn more about how to keep producing the high-quality essential oils that are in demand. Q: Given the goals of our 5×5 Pledge, where are Young Living farms headed in the future? Marc Lowe: We are in a unique position to contribute to all five key goals in the 5×5 Pledge. We’re very excited about Young Living’s vision and are moving forward with ambitious goals to expand our global cultivation reach and enhance the member experience. Nicolos Chong: There are many things to do. We will implement solar panels for the distillery and reduce our waste. We will also have more farm visits, because the farm experience is a powerful tool to share our essential oil quality story. Brett Packer: We plan on expanding our farming operations this spring. We will be planting 130,000 new trees, and our goal is to plant 200,000 new trees per year by 2020. We’re excited to see how our global farms continue to grow from this unifying conference. Continued from page 1 are a big support group for each other,” said Platinum Neena Love. In Cambodia, members also had the opportunity to witness a monumental event in the lives of 22 young women who received certificates from the Cambodian Ministry of Education. Sixteen girls earned their ninth-grade certificate, a formal education milestone that every student in Cambodia seeks, and six girls earned catch-up certificates, indicating that they have caught up on their education despite having lost several years of it. The members who attended were deeply moved by the experiences and felt empowered to inspire change and make a difference. “I have a responsibility to tell these stories. It’s on my heart, it’s in my head, it’s a part of me,” said Crown Diamond Jim Goodyear. There are more people trapped in slavery today than in any other time in history, and putting an end to human trafficking can start with the smallest contributions. “Give, even if it’s only from rounding up. It is an easy thing to do, it’s less than a dollar, and it makes such a difference!” said Royal Crown Diamond John Brock. Make a difference for the young women who Hope for Justice serves by rounding up every time you place a Young Living order. Our extended family of partner farms continues to grow! We are pleased to partner with the beautiful Finca Victoria Farm, located in Ciudad Victoria, Mexico. The Finca Victoria Farm will provide Young Living with Lime and Grapefruit essential oils, which will be extracted from citrus grown on more than 2,400 acres of sunny farmland. Because the Finca Victoria Farm is also a cold-press facility, the Lime and Grapefruit oils will be extracted on site from fresh citrus rinds. The farm is also a zero-waste facility, which means that the remaining juice, pulp, and rinds are all put to good use after the oils are extracted. Because Young Living has pledged to bring all our operations to zero-waste status by 2024, this is one of the reasons why we chose to partner with the Finca Victoria Farm. In addition to all this, the farm also meets our high standards and adheres to our Seed to Seal® quality commitment. The seeds are non-GMO, and the farm works to ensure soil health by strategically testing soil nutrition at just the right time. The Finca Victoria Farm also practices fair-trade principles, which is important to the Standards pillar of our Seed to Seal commitment. The employment provided by the farm and processing facility supports the rural communities around Ciudad Victoria, producing opportunities with every seed and every drop of oil. We are thrilled to welcome this beautiful farm into our global family—and we know you’ll love every drop of oil that comes from this farm into your home. For more information about this new partner farm, visit SeedtoSeal.com.
