INTERACTION OF ADAPTIVE SPACE INFORMATION CENTER FOR MOVING IMAGE 80 GREENE ST, NEW YORK, NEW YORK

FILM IS THE REFLECTION OF PAST, PRESENT AND A LOOK INTO THE FUTURE. THROUGH FILM WE ARE ABLE TO TRANSCEND CULTURAL BARRIERS AND AFFORDED A WEALTH OF INFORMATION THAT TRAVEL ALONE IS INCAPABLE OF DELIVERING. A MOVIE DIRECTOR TAKES INTO CONSIDERATION SITE, AESTHETIC, MOOD, CLOTHING, AND TIME IN ORDER TO TELL A COHESIVE STORY. IN THIS VEIN OF THOUGHT, THE GOAL OF MY THESIS IS TO DESIGN A SPACE FOR A CULTURALLY DIVERSE GROUP OF PEOPLE TO LEARN ABOUT LOCAL SITES, BUSINESSES, EVENTS, AESTHETIC, AND HISTORICAL BACKGROUNDS THROUGH THE MEDIUM OF FILM. THIS WOULD ALLOW TOURISTS AN OPPORTUNITY TO GAIN INSIGHT WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY BEING ENTERTAINED. PHYSICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL COMFORT IS ADDRESSED THROUGH DIFFERENTLY SCALED SPACES MADE FOR SMALL TO LARGE GROUPS, AND THROUGH THE UNIVERSALITY OF THE MOVING IMAGE.

NOW AND TOMORROW RAF SIMONS RETAIL STORE 41W 22ND ST, NEW YORK, NEW YORK

FASHION SPEAKS FOR WHO HE IS, WHAT HIS JOB IS, AND WHICH CHARACTERISTIC HE CONTAINS OF. AS THE FASHION IS SETTLED IN A PART OF OUR ORDINARY LIFE, RETAIL STORE BECOMES A HUGE MARKETING PLACE. RAF SIMONS IS THE NEW AND POWERFUL EUROPEAN MENSWEAR DESIGNER. HE ALWAYS CONSIDERS OF NOT ONLY ‘TODAY’, BUT ALSO ‘TOMORROW’. BASED ON HIS FUTURE-ORIENTED MIND, THE CONCEPT OF THE RETAIL DESIGN IS, NOW AND TOMORROW. USING AN OVAL SHAPE INSTEAD OF PERFECT CIRCULAR SHAPE CREATES MORE ORGANIC, INFORMAL, AND FLUID FEELING, WHICH MEANS IT SUBSTITUTES THE VARIATION OF OUR FUTURE.


RAF SIMONS THE DESIGNS ARE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR THE NOW AND TOMORROW, EVEN IF THEY ARE INSPIRTED BY HISTORICAL OR CLASSICAL REFERENCES. -RAF SIMONSHIS COLLECTIONS ARE HIGHLY INFLUENCED BY YOUTH CULTURE IN AN INDIRECT WAY. SOMETIMES HE COMBINES CLASSIC MENSWEAR WITH STREET WEAR, WHICH ARE INFLUENCED BY ITEMS, SUCH AS BAGS, SHOES, AND EVEN WOMAN’S DRESS.

TASCHEN’S BOOKS PUBLISHED ARE CHARACTERISTIC, ABNORMAL, AND UNUSUAL. THEY COMBINE TWO DIFFERENT CHARACTERISTIC OBJECTS, SEXUALITY AND ART. IT CAN BE SIMILAR, BUT IT CANNOT BE SOMEHOW. THEIR FREEMINDED SPIRIT ADJUSTS NOT ONLY BOOKS PUBLISHED, BUT ALSO IN THEIR WORLDWIDE BOOKSTORE DESIGN AND BOOKSHELVES. REPURPOSING ARMORY COMPETITION 260 - 270 EAST MAIN ST. NEW ROCHELLE, NY

THE SCOPE OF THIS PROJECT PROPOSES AN ADAPTIVE REUSE OF THE ARMORY BUILDING AND ITS ANNEX TO SUPPORT MIXED USE OCCUPANCY, INCLUDING AS ITS PRIMARY USE AN INDOOR OPEN MARKET THAT WILL FUNCTION UNDER THE EXPANSIVE EXISTING BARREL VAULTED ROOF. AN ASSORTMENT OF VENDORS AND RESTAURANTS PREPARING, SERVING AND SELLING LOCALLY RAISED AND HARVESTED FOODS WILL OCCUPY THE MAIN HALL OF THE ARMORY. ADDITIONAL USES IN THE ANNEX MAY INCLUDE THE LOCAL CHAPTER OF THE AMERICAN LEGION, COMMERCIAL OFFICE SPACE AND A BICYCLE REPAIR FACILITY. THE BASEMENT WILL BE PRIMARILY DEDICATED TO THE STORAGE, HANDLING AND PREPARATION OF FOOD FOR RESTAURANTS AND VENDORS IN THIS BUILDING .

FASHION SHOW SPRING / SUMMER 2012 IN PARIS LYCEE TURGOT, 69 RUE DE TURBIGO, PARIS, FRANCE

THE TITLE OF THE STAGE IS THE PANOPTICON. THE CONCEPT OF THE STAGE IS SPOOKY AND RETROACTION. IT IS FOCUSED ON DIFFERENT SILHOUETTES, STRUCTURES, AND COLORS. AUDIENCES SIT AROUND THE INSTALLATION TO SEE ALL FOUR ROOMS AND IT IS ROTATED. WE USED DARK GREY NET FABRIC ON FOUR WALLS AND PAINTED OLD GREEN DOORS WITH OILED BLACK DOOR HANDLES TO MAKE THE FEELING SPOOKY AND BLEAK. USING ELASTIC BAND TO HANG ALL THE FURNITURE ON THE WALL IS FOR CREATING THE SOUND WHILE THE STAGE IS ROTATED.


FASHION SHOW SPRING / SUMMER 2012 IN COPENHAGEN RADIO HUSET, JULIUS THOMSENS GADE 1, FREDERIKSBERG, DENMARK

THE COPENHAGEN FASHION SHOW STAGE IS SIMILAR TO PARIS FASHION SHOW STAGE. WE CHANGED COLORS AND ADDED LIGHTS DUE TO THE NIGHT TIME TO AROUSE THE FEELING SPOOKY AND BLEAK. MOREOVER, THE MINT DOOR , HENRIK VIBSKOV’S FAVORITE COLOR, REPRESENTS WHOSE STAGE IT IS.

THE ESPLANADE RESIDENTIAL APARTMENT PROJECT IN HARTSDALE 250 CENTRAL PARK AVE, HARTSDALE, NY

THE ESPLANADE IS A NEW RESIDENTIAL, RENTAL BUILDING LOCATED IN HARTSDALE, NY. THE PROJECT CONSISTS OF 4 LEVELS OF RESIDENTIAL APARTMENT UNITS, ONE AND TWO BEDROOM, AND A BASEMENT AMENITIES LEVEL. THE BUILDING IS 11,300 SQUARE FOOT ON GRADE (AMENITIES AND COMMON AREA) AND 12,400 FOR EACH OF THE RESIDENTIAL FLOOR PLATES. ADDITIONALLY, THERE IS A 1,500 SQUARE FOOT OPEN SPACE ON THE ROOF PROVIDED AS A RESIDENT AMENITY. THE BUILDING WILL BE CONSTRUCTED WITH THE GRADE LEVEL ACTING AS A CONCRETE PLINTH OR BASE TUCKED INTO THE HILLSIDE WITH STEEL BEAMS SUPPORTING THE BEARING COMPONENTS OF THE RESIDENTIAL FLOORS ABOVE. THE FLOORS WILL CONSIST OF A WOOD FRAMED STRUCTURE FOR THE FOUR RESIDENTIAL LEVELS;THEY WILL BE FRAMED IN DIMENSIONAL LUMBER, 2” X 10” JOISTS AT 16” ON- CENTER AND THESE FLOORS WILL BE SUPPORTED BY A NETWORK OF BEARING (AND DEMISING) WALLS CONSTRUCTED OF 2” X 6” DIMENSIONAL LUMBER ALSO AT 16” ON CENTER.
