Corona virus related-stigma is rejected in religion, President of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities states

In light of the recent incident of refusing to bury a female corona virus victim from medical staff, President of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, Egypt’s Mufti, Dr. Shawki Allam, stated that refusing to bury the coronavirus victims has nothing to do with either our religion or ethics and values.

Dr. Allam confirmed in a news statement that all acts of bullying and mockery of corona virus victims and patients are totally unacceptable. “Those who die of coronavirus are martyrs and it is impermissible to prevent them from the right of burial under any circumstances”, Dr. Allam said.

“I got the reward for making Umrah”: Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta launches new online campaign to support coronavirusaffected people

Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta announced the launch of a new online campaign titled “charity is more urgent” and “I got the reward for making ‘Umrah” in response to the Saudi authorities’ resolution to suspend performing ‘umrah this year over coronavirus safety procedures in the kingdom. Dr. Shawki Allam, Egypt’s Grand Mufti, said that those who planned to go for ‘umrah have to pay its expenses in charity instead to daily-paid workers and everyone who lost their sources of income over Corona virus outbreak. Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta mentioned the words of the Prophet (peace be upon him) who said, “The most beloved people to God are those who benefit others the most. And the most beloved deed in God’s sight is to make a Muslim happy, remove their hardship, forgive them their debt, or to feed the hungry.”

Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta in a new fatwa: it is permissible to dedicate CHARITY and ZAKAT to help daily-paid workers

Over Corona virus outbreak, Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta stated in a new fatwa that it is permissible to dedicate charity (sadaqah) and zakat money to help daily-paid workers who temporarily lost their sources of income while abiding by quarantine and safety guidlines. The fatwa stated that, at times of hardship, we should seize the opportunity to do good deeds and pay charity which is a means to ward of harm and brings about God’s pleasure.

Grand Mufti of Jerusalem: Mosques will remain closed during Ramadan

The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, His Eminence Sheikh Muhammad Hussein, announced that all mosques will remain closed during the emergency period, including the month of Ramadan. In compliance with the procedures followed to contain corona virus spread in Jerusalem, he also announced that the Friday prayers will remain suspended in order to preserve the lives of the people and protect them. Sheikh Hussein, in an interview with the official Voice of Palestine Radio, said that because of the prevailing conditions in Palestine, the role of the Fatwa will not invite the masses to explore the crescent of the holy month of Ramadan this year in order to prevent gatherings. The Palestinian astronomers will announce the confirmation of seeing the crescent and begin fasting with a statement broadcast on the Palestinian Radio and Television and other media outlets.
