IRWIN - Hazel Emmaline Irwin was born July 2, 1938 at Arcola, SK to Doris (King) and Roy Lario. She passed away peacefully in the early hours of Feb. 13, 2016. Due to the failing health of her mother, the family, including older sister, Helen, moved to Langenburg, SK to be closer to medical facilities. Sadly her mother passed away when Hazel was five. The two little girls were twice blessed when their father met and married Frances Schentag. Hazel began her education in Langenburg followed by a move to Yorkton. She attended the Grey Nun’s Academy in Regina but health issues forced her to return home before the end of the school term. She gained employment as a receptionist for Dr. MacIntyre and later in life, re-entered the work force at Harry’s Dutch Bakery and then at McDonald’s. On Nov. 8, 1958 she married Allan Irwin and became a farm wife. Art was Hazel’s passion. She made all the flowers and candles for her wedding. She loved to draw and had a keen eye for colour and contrast. She continued to draw and colour as long as she was able. She grew a large garden and loved to cook and to bake. She never made a plain birthday cake, they were all elaborate creations. She was very spiritual which sustained her throughout her life. However, she had many health issues which kept her from being all that she could be. THORSRUD - Lorraine Thorsrud, aged 79, passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 in the loving arms of her daughter Julianne. Born on Sept. 21, 1936 in the small town of Ethelbert, MB to John and Anne Tycholis, she was the eldest of 3 children and remained a shining light to her parents throughout their lives. Over the years a precocious child grew into a formidable woman. Piano and singing lessons from a young age led to church performances and spots on the local radio in Dauphin, MB as an accomplished singer. She loved to sing and her voice was beautiful! Her beauty attracted the attention of Bjorn Thorsrud, visiting from Lillehammer, Norway and they quickly fell in love and were married on November 5, 1960. Together, they opened Thorsrud’s Colour Centre in Yorkton, SK and remained in business together for over 42 years until their retirement. During their time together Lorraine and Bjorn traveled the world, laughed and loved. Lorraine’s passion for life and the arts saw her involved as a volunteer for decades. She sat on several boards and committees on regional, provincial and national levels. Some of which included: Chairperson for the Parkland Abilities Council in Yorkton, Chairperson of the Board of Governors of the University of Regina (the first woman to ever be elected to the position) and Canada Council for the Arts in Ottawa, ON. She was the first Yorkton resident to be named “Citizen of the Year” in 1983 in recognition of her long time public service. Lorraine loved to cook big meals for family gatherings and taught us that family around the dinner table is the best family to have. Her borscht recipe is heavenly. We will always love you sweet Lorraine. She will be deeply missed by her husband of 55 years Bjorn; daughters: Julianne (Neil), Karen (Walter) and Sharon; grandchildren: Sarah (Aldrick), Kristian, Michael, Julian and Isabella, as well as friends and extended family whose lives Lorraine enriched with her beautiful personality and energy. Lorraine’s family wishes to give special thanks to the nurses and caregivers at the Skinner North #2 unit and the Orkney house who provided care and compassion to her in the last years of her life. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre. Please join us in the celebration of all things Lorraine!

KRASOWSKI – In loving memory of John, a loving husband, Father and Grandfather, who passed away February 28, 2015. The moment that you died my heart was torn in two, one side filled with heartache, the other died with you. I often lie awake at night, when the world is fast asleep, and take a walk down memory lane, with tears upon my cheeks. Remembering you is easy, I do it every day, But missing you is heartache that never goes away. I hold you tightly within my heart and there you will remain. Deeply missed by your wife, Beverly, your children and grandchildren
