T h e w o r k o f the Y o u n g M e n ' s Christian A s s o c i a t i o n i n Y o r k C o l l e g e has b e e n kept steadily g o i n g n o t w i t h s t a n d i n g the m a n y difficulties encountered. T h e b i g e f f o r t s of the a s s o c i a t i o n in the first half of the year were put forth in raising m o n e y f o r the Students' Friendship W a r Fund f o r the benefit of the soldiers. In raising the m o n e y , the b o y s in the s c h o o l r e s p o n d e d n o b l y and it was i n d e e d m o n e y f o r a w o r t h y p u r p o s e . T h e w h o l e c o l l e g e did their share in m a k i n g this undertaking the success that it was. T h e total a m o u n t raised in Y o r k C o l l e g e f o r the Students' Friendship W a r Fund w a s $1,467.00. T h e latter half of the year was f o c u s e d in an undertaking even greater and m o r e i m p o r t a n t than the raising of the Friendship Fund. T h e s r e a t North field C o n f e r e n c e resulted in a call f o r the o r g a n i z a t i o n o f c o l l e g e students f o r Christian W o r l d D e m o c r a c y . T h i s was a national movement and Y o r k a l o n g with the other c o l l e g e s of the state, b e g a n active work. T h e student b o d y was divided into g r o u p s which met in o n e hour classes on T h u r s d a y m o r n i n g of each week. In this w a y every student has b e e n able to enter into the discussion and b e c o m e familiarized with the great present day p r o b l e m s b r o u g h t to us by the war. T h e s e have been the t w o b i g f a c t o r s in k e e p i n g the Y. M. C. A. a live institution this y e a r and in m a k i n g it really serve the student and his needs.
