A final chance to hear our graduating students perform together before they head off on new adventures. This year, to allow the School’s leavers to share as many of their favourite pieces as possible, we’re putting on two concerts in The Menuhin Hall.

Expect glittering performances, passionate playing and maybe even a tear or two at this celebratory farewell concert.

Each concert will be followed by the presentation of scores to graduating students.

Ode to Joy!

Friday 7 July 7.30pm

Tickets: £10–£33, under 30s half price

A joyous musical spectacle to end the school year will bring together the entire school with celebrated YMS alumni and community partner the Music in Secondary Schools Trust.

In the first half Alexander Sitkovetsky and Wu Qian join the School’s Junior Orchestra to perform Mendelssohn’s Concerto for Piano, Violin and Strings, an enchanting work written when the composer was just 14 years old.

After the interval we bring the festival to a close with a spine-tingling showstopper: Beethoven’s monumental Symphony No. 9 in an arrangement for two pianos and choir. Music Director Ashley Wass will take one of the piano parts alongside four YMS piano pupils who will each play a movement with the massed voices of the School’s choir and singers from MiSST secondary schools performing the magnificent final movement.

Running time: 130 minutes plus interval
