WHY PARENTS LOVE OUR CAMPS! “He has continued his friendships & social time with fun activities while I work in the summer. He looks forward to the Y camp!” “Instead of sitting at home playing video games and watching TV, my son was a CIT so he was socializing with others, learning how to work with younger children and was outside playing most of the day.” “My daughter had a great experience. She always looked forward to going daily and wanted to return for another week! Staff was great and gave her positive role models. She is a diabetic and staff did a great job in helping her be healthy, safe and have a great time. Thank you and see you next year!” “The kids were exposed to many new experiences, and many new people, including other kids. It forced them out of their comfort zone, and challenged them to develop new social and emotional skills.” www.northshoreymca.org

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

Y summer camps are for everyone – regardless of income. The Y provides financial assistance for families who are unable to pay the full camp fee. Subsidies are available thanks to the generous support of YMCA Annual Campaign donors. Contact your local Y or visit our website at www.northshoreymca.org for a confidential financial assistance application or to make a donation. Applications should be submitted at least three weeks prior to the start of the camp session to allow for processing.

WE ARE TACKLING SUMMER LEARNING LOSS

During the summer children experience “summer learning loss” when they are not involved in high quality programs with opportunities for skill building. As a result, children can forget up to 2 months of academic instruction, particularly in the areas of reading and math when they are not in school. Camps provide the opportunity to reduce summer learning loss in an expanded learning environment where children are engaged and have an opportunity for enrichment. At the Y we are committed to helping prevent summer learning loss. All of our camps have activities that focus on reading comprehension, progressive skill building and problem-solving. Research has shown that kids who are involved in camps over the summer are more prepared for the next school year. Summer camp balances are due 7 days prior to the start of the session. Families on e-pay will be drafted at that time.

WELCOME TO Y CAMP! A message from the Director:

The goal of the Greater Beverly YMCA Summer Camps is to help mold young people as they grow. Our camps provide children with a positive, safe, fun, and creative summer experience. Through innovative activities along with qualified staff and counselors, your child will grow to his/her highest potential. All of our camps will incorporate the YMCA of the USA character values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. While having fun at camp, we hope that your child will learn how to practice these values and include them in their everyday life and activities. Our camp staff have years of camping experience! In addition to our camp directors we have camp counselors that have experience working with children of all ages and abilities; who while not at the Y are gaining their education in such fields as education, health, sports and counseling. Our staff are trained through YMCA of the North Shore standards and training, Greater Beverly YMCA standards and training, as well as their own specific camp trainings led by their camp directors. Here at the Greater Beverly YMCA we comply with state regulations and are licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. We conduct background checks on all staff and volunteers. All families have the right to ask about our camp staff background checks.
