Lesson 4 – Telling Time A Clock is a device that helps people to tell time. Most clocks have two hands.

The short hand is called the hour hand. It tells the hour of the day. The long hand is the minute hand. It tells the number of minutes. When the minute hand points at 6, half an hour has passed. Half an hour is the same as 30 minutes.
