Forgotten Never Friends may think we have forgotten When at times they see us smile. Little do they know the heartaches That our smiles hide all the while. Beautiful memories are wonderful things.

That last till the longest day. They never wear out. They never get lost and Can never be given away. To some you may be forgotten. To others a part of the past. But to those who loved And lost you... Your memory will always last. Love you always & forever in our hearts!

18-Feb-1885 Mark Twain's Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is published for the first time. Considered as one of the Great American Novels, the work is noted for its colorful description of people and places along the Mississippi River. It was criticized upon release because of its coarse language and became even more controversial in the 20th century because of its perceived use of racial stereotypes and racial slurs. 19-Feb-2003 On-stage pyrotechnics start a fire that kills nearly a hundred spectators attending a performance by the metal band Great White in the U.S. state of Rhode Island. A spray of sparks ignited the foam soundproofing material behind the stage. In 2008 the band agreed to pay $1 million to survivors and victims' relatives of the fire while admitting to no wrongdoing. Rock On!! 20-Feb-1952 "The African Queen", opened in NYC. “The African Queen” is a marvellous film of romance, adventure, love and human character. It follows the adventures of a crusty bachelor, Charlie Allnut (Humphrey Bogart) and his nemesis, Rose Sayer (Katharine Hepburn), in World War I Africa. The pair struggle against the climate, the river, the bugs, the Germans and, most of all, against each other. And in the end, love and strength of character overcome all. 21-Feb-1965 Malcolm X is assassinated at the Audubon Ballroom in New York City by members of the Nation of Islam. To his admirers, he was a courageous advocate for the rights of African Americans, a man who indicted white America in the harshest terms for its crimes against black Americans. His detractors accused him of preaching racism, black supremacy, anti-Semitism & violence. 22-Feb-1997 In Roslin, Scotland, scientists announce that an adult sheep named Dolly had been successfully cloned. Dolly was actually born on July 5th, 1996 at the Roslin Institute. The cell used as the donor for the cloning of Dolly was taken from a mammary gland, and the production of a healthy clone therefore proved that a cell taken from a specific part of the body could recreate a whole individual. On Dolly's name, embryologist Dr Ian Wilmut stated "Dolly is derived from a mammary gland cell and we couldn't think of a more impressive pair of glands than Dolly Parton's". 23-Feb-2010 Unknown criminals pour more than 2.5 million liters of diesel oil and other hydrocarbons into the river Lambro, in Northern Italy, causing an environmental disaster. This oily mass followed the entire length of the river, despite both local authorities and civil defense’s efforts in order to stop the flow. This disaster caused considerable damage to wildlife and vegetation, both in Lambro and in Po, and unfortunately its effects will be evident for many years afterwards, making it one of the worst environmental crisis in recent history in Italy. 24-Feb-1989 United Airlines Flight 811, bound for New Zealand from Honolulu, Hawaii, rips open during flight, sucking 9 passengers out of the businessclass section. The aircraft involved was a Boeing 747-122. The pilots began an emergency descent to get the aircraft rapidly down to breathable air, while performing a 180-degree left turn to take them back to Honolulu. Captain Cronin was able to get the plane to a halt without going off the end of the runway. Evacuation was carried out and all passengers and flight attendants were off in less than 45 seconds.

Thumbs up to Nathan and Luke. Your time and thoughtfulness Is appreciated more that you realize. Thank you so much !!

Thumbs down to those people racing up & down the streets of Two Mile, day & night, with their snowmobiles& ATV’s! Take them out in the country or buy yourself a 100 acres somewhere instead of driving past people’s homes revving up your motor! Do you know you can be fined for excessive, unnecessary noise after 11PM? Do you know it’s against the law to drive them on the roads? If you expect people to be tolerant of your need to drive down the road to get to a good place to ride & you do not want people to report you , have some respect, go slower & quieter, stay off the street when people are in bed for the night!

Interesting Facts, Weird News & Strange Things You Likely Didn’t Know... -Situated at Baalbek, 53 miles from Beirut in Lebanon, stand the ruins of a group of Roman temples constructed in the first century A.D. Surrounding the temples is a massive stone wall at whose western end lie three of the largest cut blocks of stone in the world. The largest of these is 64 by 14 by 12 feet and weighs about 800 tons. This block would have to have been cut from a quarry almost a mile away, transported to Baalbek, and possibly lifted some 25 feet to its final position. Few modern industrial cranes are capable of such a feat, yet the stones are placed so precisely, it is impossible to insert the blade of a knife between them. How these stones were transported is unknown. -Off the coast of Nova Scotia lies tiny, irregular-shaped Oak Island. In 1795, Daniel McGinnis and two friends found an old ship's tackle block hanging above a filled-in depression on the island. They dug thirty feet down, finding three oak platforms at ten-foot intervals. Nine years later, a more concerted effort to uncover what lay underneath began. More oak platforms were found, as well as a "cipher stone" in obscure symbols that were interpreted to indicate an enormous treasure below. Several channels were later found that connect to the island's beaches that serve to flood the shaft with water. Even with the benefits of modern technology, the bottom of the pit, and the treasure supposedly there, has not yet been uncovered. It is also not known whose treasure it is, or why they went to such trouble to bury it. -One of the most unusual military manoeuvres ever was performed in 1191, during the third Crusade, when Richard the Lion-Hearted captured the city of Acre. The inhabitants were barricaded inside, so King Richard had his soldiers throw 100 beehives over the walls. The people in the fortress surrendered immediately. -It is reported that the Hagia Sophia (Church of the Holy Wisdom) in Constantinople cost 320,000 lbs of gold when it was constructed between 532 & 537. Even if that cost were exaggerated by a factor of ten, it was still a staggering amount of money for the Roman Empire to spend, as it was waging war simultaneously in Italy and Persia. Since 562, when the great dome of the cathedral of Hagia Sophia at Constantinople (modern-day Instanbul) was rebuilt following its collapse in 558, the cathedral has sustained what was, until recently, the largest self-supporting dome ever constructed.

THINGS THAT REALLY CHEESE ME OFF!! Why are women so obsessed with dyeing their hair? And why is the predominant choice of colour blond? Why can't they be happy with their God-given hair colour? In a nation obsessed with youth and beauty, changing hair color is nearly as commonplace as changing clothes. Three out of every five North American women aged 18 to 55 now tint their locks. Hair dyes have to be one of the greatest items in retail sales. Companies get giant vats of industrial chemicals, divide them up into tiny portions worth a few cents, and sell them for 10 or 20 dollars. Commercial dye-makers sell over $7 billion dollars worth of hair dyes worldwide every year. That’s billions of bottles of industrial solvents treated as 'magic potions' when they are really hazardous waste. Hair dye is used for self-expression and artistic outlet - take the young things with purple, pink and blue highlights who would also never hesitate to throw some glitter onto their faces at the drop of a hat. The hair dye they use is like paint and they are the canvasses; whether or not they are true artists is somewhat beside the point. Other women simply color just to color - they like changing up their look. They can go from auburn to blonde to midnight vixen within a six-month time period and not even have to go to therapy for identity issues. I also wonder about all the chemicals in hair dyes and how they are polluting our precious water supply as millions of tons of the stuff are washed down sinks at hair salons, and at home, all in the sake of vanity. Not to mention inhaling the chemicals or have them soak into their scalps. Research has shown that the toxic ingredients in hair-dyes can be linked to cancer, developmentative and reproductive toxicity, neurotoxicity, immunotoxicity, organ toxicity, not to mention allergies and irritation of the eyes, skin and lungs. The instructions warn not to breathe it, wear gloves, and don't get it on your skin. But somehow, on your head, next to your brain, is okay! So, if you still think that changing your hair color is imperative in making you look beautiful and increasing your self-confidence, then go ahead and have your hair dyed. Just make sure that you educate yourself and avoid permanent color, since it contains ingredients that are mostly toxic. You may also want to try alternative dyes that contain all-natural ingredients, such as hennas, vegetable and herbal dyes. Smarten up!!
